  1. I purchased my GT6 from the Lenham Motor Company back in 1988. Their main business then was selling MGs and also doing a Lenham conversion to MG Roadsters to make them four seaters.  At the time they were based in Harrietsham in Kent.

I believe that the business as it was was wound down although the Lenham motor company name was taken over in 2008 and is now used by another company called CCK who also took over some of the Lenham moulds.

As a bit of history I've enclosed the original Lenham motor company advert from Classic Cars magazine that listed my GT6 in 1988, a couple of photos from when I went to view it/test drive it and also a picture from 2017 when I dropped by to the old premises in Harrietsham in my GT6. Part of the building was then in use by another company Lenham Sportscars and another part was up for sale but had been recently used by The Vintage Sportscar Garage.

    Andy,

Do you have times for the durations for the stops?

Arrival times as far as Falls of Shin are earlier than 2021 with the curious exception of John O'Groats, presumably to avoid gridlock at the pumps at Skiach.

Beyond that, all of the arrival times are later as far as Badgers Holt with the finish control 13 minutes earlier.

That might be a tall order given that the M25 is unlikely to be as deserted as last time due to sheeple panic buying fuel.

    Jim.

You can see the open and close time on the table for each stop, so that gives you the durations. The controls seem to be open longer this time rather than the normal one hour (expcept at breakfast stops which were always open longer)

  3. Tim called me and asked me to remove the table from a post I'd put up on facebook to drum up support. Basically after the rogue scotch pie control in Scotland on a previous run the organisers don't want the timetable and controls to be widely published outside CT. So I've taken the table down from facebook but will share with my sponsors. So Please don't share the table on social media, thanks....

  4. Burlen are the main UK spares distributor for SU and Stromberg Carbs (& Amal Motorcycle carbs too), much better stock than Rimmers and most of the other Triumph specialists, plus of course you'll nearly always pay extra at Rimmers.  Also they are the real experts if you need advice and always helpful.  https://burlen.co.uk/

    2.5 PI Saloon -

    I'm having fun with getting a working Speedo, I obtained a NOS speedo and sent it to Speedy Cables for conversion to electronic operation, something I had done previously with my TR6 without any issues;

First fit - speedo worked fine until turning off, stopped at 10mph, next run stopped at 20mph, then 30mph, you get the picture, sent it back to Speedy

Second fit - speedo needle constantly oscillating, not by much but very annoying, speedo went back and Speedy reported no fault found

Third fit - speedo worked great, until I stopped the car, speedo stopped at 20mph, then 40mph, similar to first fit but with greater increment.

This speedo is on its way back to Speedy again...

So, I bought a NOS original 2.5 Speedo and fitted that:

Works great, up to 30mph, then it's wavering about, it also won't go above 80mph

I refitted the original speedo, it's great, needle is steady, reading is about 10mph out at 60, obviously not good, the wheels are 14" so a bit bigger than standard, the discrepancy should only be 3mph though. I think for RBRR I will just rely on a GPS speedo on the windscreen, it works fine.

Not content with giving me speedo trouble, the MU choke cable appears to have broken, the throttle body choke still works fine. Rather than faff about swapping both out, I have ordered parts from Martin Giles to fit his adaptor plate to the throttle body end and a secondary cable that operates the MU enrichment lever, this is part of a kit he sells for the TR6, unfortunately the full kit won't fit a saloon (we think, I will measure up & check with him)

A Triumph speedo that's only 10mph out, that's about as accurate as they get unless they have been especially calibrated. My GT6 speedo reads over 85mph when the car is only doing 70, when I owned the Flying Log Dolomite it was showing 60mph when the car was actually doing over 70.

Just looked at booking the Novotel Hotel. Website saying no availability?  Anyone have any idea why?

Its being used to house migrants for the foreseeable future. It was a pretty crap hotel TBH and I've never used it since a disastrous stay there when the club Triumph annual dinner was held there. The premier Inn is so much better and the hotel that most of the RBRR crews use nowadays. See the following review I posted on trip adviser for the Novatel!  https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g190726-d191485-r355394122-Novotel_Stevenage-Stevenage_Hertfordshire_England.html

  7. So Tim Bancroft confirmed yesterday afternoon that my page is now linked to the main one. I didn't actually do anything to correct it, so it just seemed to have happened in the background. I did initially set my individual page up via the CT main page and it wasn't linked initially. but seems to have sorted itself out the following day so maybe there is un update overnight or something?

Anyway begging email and facebook post sent out to potential sponsors and my first donation came in fairly soon afterwards and also shows up on the main CT page so included in the total and all looks good.

    Hi Mike,

Private message me via this forum and let me know your phone number and I will call to discuss.

    Andy,

Can you tell RBRR entrants who are having JG page set up issues to contact me via this forum and I will call them and discuss and help.

    Ta,

    Tim

    Tim,

Could we have some basic instructions published either on the forum or as an RBRR email bulletin to advise exactly how we go about adding our individual team pages as a team on the main CT page please? I did try and follow the instructions that were sent out before but that just sets up an individual team page with no obvious way to link it to the main CT page.

    Thanks,

    Andy

  9. Hi,

I've created a fundraising page for our RBRR team but can't see how to add it to the main RBRR page as a team? can anyone advise how to do this as it doesn't seem obvious? , here is a link to our page, I haven't published it to anyone yet until it's linked to appear as a team against the main RBRR page in case I have to re-create the team page in a different way to be able to link it.

    Hello all,

As the title says I'm after a Gt6 mk3, not my first classic but my first Triumph!

Not looking for a project as I would like it to be driveable but something that would require some over winter improvements would be fine.

    Anything out there?

    Cheers

    Matt

Not sure where you are in the country? One of our local TSSC members who is based somewhere near Reading has a late one for sale.  I think it was recently valued by the TSSC at around £17.5K so it's in nice condition but not a show car.   If Reading is not too far for you then PM me your email address and I'll pass your details on.

  11. I tried to book my ticket for the show on the Sunday with BMM on Monday this week and my payments kept getting declined even using two different cards, as I had used the card a few minutes before to purchase the CT Camping ticket I knew that there was no issue with my cards. I phoned up Gaydon and they advised that their payment system was not accepting payments from some credit cards or banks, my bank being Santander was one of these I was told to keep trying later in the week.

Just in case anyone else had similar issues I can now advise it's now fixed and I have now managed to get my Gaydon eticket.

Had a quick look at hotels for the Thurs and Sunday nights.

Only thing I can find regarding the Novotel is that it's closed. Shame as it is very handy with plenty of parking

TBH, the Novatel is best avoided, I'll never ever use it again having been double booked last time and had an elderly couple walk in to my room when I was stark b0llock naked. The Premier Inn is far more reliable and is only a mile away from the Novatel and also has plenty of parking. Also far more teams stay at the Premier Inn than the Novatel nowadays so the after run pi55 up is much better.
