  1. If I remember correctly triumph only fitted a mirror on the drivers side as standard. I don't believe there are any predrilled holes.  The mirrors are secured by self tapping screws.

Back in the 70s my mkiv only had one mirror, it came from a ford cortina, my mkiii did not have any mirrors.

  2. I've just fitted a 55amp alternator from Canley classics, not run the car yet.

I have front and rear fogs, spots and electric fan, 55amp should be fine for me as I don't expect to draw much  more than 45 amp on a continous basis.

  3. New alternator fitted over Christmas, new 60amp cable run from the alternator direct to the battery terminal. I was able to solder the cable to the original connector so could use the original plastic housing for the wires, all works well.    ;D.

  4. Oh dear, oh dear  :(

The wheel arch is covered in a stretchy leather cloth or vinyl, fit on a warmish day using a contact adhesive, should come up pretty well.  the material is available from a numer of sources such as Martrim.

The same material is used on the hardboard corner piece just above the wheel arch.

    A question..

Did you put extra wires for the 55amp alternator ? or just the existing wiring ?
Uprating the alternator is also something to do in the future on my spitfire  :)

Hi Wim I have not decided yet, Canley thought not required but it is easy to add a new wire so probably will.   The original cable will be overspec, but could be marginal.  Main risk would be if there was a fault with the alternator.

  6. Thanks all, I have gone with an updated 55amp alternator from Canley classics for 49gbp.  Will rewire over Christmas.

I also got a new bosch battery from the local motor factors.

I got a new radiator cap as well which seems to have cured what I thought was a leak from the radiator.
