  2. Hi All,i am currently carrying out a full body off rebuild of a 1968 herald 1200 conv. The vehicle underwent a rather poor refurb back in the 80/s it was resprayed in black and the interior changed. The commissioning plate was replaced with a poor diy replacement which is unreadable,is there a way i can find out the exact commissioning details as manufactored including trim colour? many thanks Neil
  3. Hi all,i am currently purchasing all parts for a continuing refurb,i have a 68 conv 1200 and it was built right on the crossover period so some parts ie type 12 calipers are older and some later,im looking to replace all headlamps and bowl kits but they make an earlier/later version, what are the main  differences please and i take i should go halogen type. neil
  4. Hi all,i need some advice please i have a 68 1200  herald with type 12 calipers they need a complete over haul requiring new pistons, rubbers etc these parts are around 60 pounds,i do have spare pair of bearing hubs for the type 14 calipers, these calipers are now over a 100 pounds, should i bite the bullit and change to 14s or save and stay with 12s i know 14s are larger but would i really notice the difference? interested in comments please.Regards Neil

  6. Hi many thanks for reply, the gap i refur to is not from bottom of light to top of over rider but to the left and right of the over rider i have a gap of 1/4 inch each side i think my aperture is to wide at this point? is there anyone working on a vehicle [or an old tub] with lights and over riders removed that can measure the empty aperture at this point.Neil
  7. Hi to all,im after a measurement please if possible,im currently rebuilding the apertures that hold the rear light fittings and the over ridders, the width across the top from seam to seam is 3inches ISH,however when i temporarally fit the over ridder there seams a little to much gap between the side of the rider and the rear light chrome strip?does the light aperture get wider as it gets lower?i take it the rider should be a snug fit? can someone measure from seam to seam at the bottom just where the bracket is that the valence and side valence bolts to please? i hope this makes some sense im about to weld the area but it just doesnt seam right. Thanks Neil
  8. Many thanks for replies and thanks animator for measurements,my floor was over size causing the new boot floor side panels to conect to the wings at a strange angle? have now trimed boot floor to correct size and now fits well so many thanks again.Regards Neil
  9. Hi to all,i need your assistance yet again if i may,i have just rebuilt the boot floor but when offerer it in it appears to wide? i unfortuantly have lost my dimentions and now cant trim it to the correct width. As it tapers from front to back i need to get it right, please does anyone have the measurements of the exact width from just behind the arches and the width from boot rim so i can trim to correct size? 11. Hi to all,i have now worked my way to the boot area of my rebuild, and approached the area i always new would be the most difficult? there are two small panels [1xlh,1xrh] they fix either side of the rear lights, they have always been a major rust spot they show in the parts book as no35-802815 and no36-802814 they are indicated as panel side trunk.,i know these small panels are no longer available but does any one have any suggestions, there are companies that say they can make any panel, has anyone had any made and if so where? many thanks
  12. Hi all, i am nearing the end of a year long welding marathon on a 1200 rebuild replaceing/rebuildind all the known culprits, floors, doorskins, tread plates, boot floor etc etc. i now have to replace the rear lower wings, the old have been removed and have sourced two good ones from an old tub,my problem is i cant get a good enough access to the upper wing lip to clean it good enough for my spotweld to weld this joint,my question is has anyone bolted this upper join? it would mean that seam sealer could be added first before tightening which would be an advantge,i accept that the side seam[b post] and the tail light would still need to be spotwelded.Bearing in mind a lot of vehicles from that period were bolt on panels.interested on thoughts please. Regards Neil
  13. Hi to all, quick question.is the distributor on the 1200 and 13/60 the same? Regards Neil

Hi all,im just finishing a Bpost bottom rebuild, and about to replace the bottom lower wing i was going to make my own panel but replacements seem quite cheap but im concerned in getting this panel parrallel to the tub? is there any measurements from the swale line to where the sill will sit? door temporary fitted with new doorskin to give some reference buts gaps not good at moment so dont dont really want to align to it? any suggestions please. Many thanks Neil
  17. Hi all,i have a 1968 1200 herald which im rebuilding,i have type 12 caliphers which were factory fitted [it was at the crossover period and they must have used surplus stock] the pistons and rubbers are shot and replacements are over 60 pounds. However the type 14 are half the price and calipers available. What if any are the pros and cons for sticking with type 12 or changing to type 14 please.Regards Neil
