    Oiling Trunions

Hi All, I have just oiled the trunions and it was so quick and easy, I used an oil can, thanks Danny. Did offside first and was not sure where the oil was coming from initially but then saw it had come out of the seal, the nearside took just one pump. So thanks for the replies. One other thing though, this is the firs time I have posted on the new site so am unaware of the size of images I can post, info on this would be of help. Thanks Steve

    Oiling Trunions

Hi Ted, That is what I will do next, the oil is coming out of five places one of which is a nozzle on the cap of the gun which has a loose ball bearing in. I am assuming you can use this to fill the gun with grease but the oil is pouring out of this which I will deal with.

    Oiling Trunions

Hi all, Some answers, oil is EP 90, Trunions were clean no grease at all and the nipples were as well wth free movement of the ball bearing. I tried using the oil container, the type with a tube for a spout. I put a tube into the spout and the other end into the hole where the nipple goes. I could see tiny bubbles moving through the tubing into the trunion, but I don’t know how much went in. A YouTube video shows a guy using  grease gun and he is topping up the oil and says when you see old oil coming out of the bottom of the seal that job done and that’s what I want to achieve. Thanks for all the replies Steve
  4. I have just rebuilt the front suspension on my 13/60 and bought a grease gun from toolstation to oil the trunnions. Apart from oil coming out of any part of the gun with a thread, I half expected that, it did not seem to work. I made sure that the grease nipples were ok (new ones) the gun was pumping as oil was coming out by the grease nipple but none out of the seals on the trunnions. Could any one with experience of doing this offer some help or recommend a decent grease gun please. thanks Steve
