    radiator hose

I would be interested in a couple of sets of windscreen seals for my 2 cars if you do look into this and need to gauge numbers if there is a minimum production run.

    radiator hose

Look forward to hearing how you get on with this, the radiator hoses on both my beige beauties are hard with age but not yet leaking. Keen to get them replaced before summer when I will be using them both and putting the modern car off the road.
  3. Stiff steering could be caused by the lower ball joints as others have said but also the top strut bearings seizing up. we get this complaint of stiff steering at work quite a lot on older Xsara Picasso and Berlingo's and find the top strut thrust bearings are rusted solid. Maybe worth a look if you don't find a problem with the track rod ends, steering u/j and lower ball joints.
  4. Will do Barry. After I am happy with the fronts, I am going to turn my attention to the rear brakes and see if they can be improved.
  5. Thanks Barry. So far I have discovered that the Acclaim and later Civic models share the same caliper and master cylinder piston bore diameters and the front brake flexi hoses fit the Civic calipers. After a few false starts with the brake discs, I think I am there now. Will post up some more details when I have had a chance to drive the car.
  6. So after the round Britain and a few moments of "cricky" these brakes are not very sharp but in reality there is nothing wrong with them being as they are all new, and I am just used to the modern brakes on the modern cars I work on every day. Anyway, me being me and can't leave things alone, I have decided to see if I can improve them without spending a fortune, changing the wheel sizes or modifying the hubs or carriers. After some internet trawling, I have purchased some Honda CRX vented discs, 1990 Civic Calipers and carriers from a Honda breaker locally and if they all fit, I will detail on here the fitting and part numbers. The discs are only slightly larger in diameter and readily available for around £20 a pair. Going to try to have a try tomorrow if the weather stays fine and SWMBO doesn't find me any jobs around the house
  7. I am definitely interested in one, maybe 2 of these as I think I am now going to keep both my beige beauties , how do I contact Simon Goldsworthy to add my name to the list please?
  8. Fit a smaller steering wheel so I can get my legs underneath and work the accelerator and brake without having my right leg bent to one side all the time! Find a way to improve the handling without ruining the ride comfort, improve the brakes with vented discs and larger calipers, replace the cheap tyres fitted with ones that grip, replace the exhaust before it falls off, which it is about to.. oh and persuade Mrs CT that taking part again would not be a waste of money and time..
  9. Ahhhhhh...grrrr. So just when I thought I was all done, now the cooling fan has packed up due to failure of the new fan switch I fitted a few weeks back when I replaced the radiator. So tomorrow I will be replacing it with the old one that was working perfectly. Other than that, all good to go..
  10. Been using my Beige beauty for a few weeks now off and on, noticed a new noise from the engine at idle the other night whilst opening the garage, turns out the water pump bearing had collapsed   but with no loss of coolant. Not wishing to push my luck, I decided to drive to the DM yesterday in the modern. New pump and alternator belt fitted today and importantly no noise! Stickers applied and bodywork polished. Oil and filter change next Saturday on the ramp at work and team 138 are all set for the off.. well unless anything else goes wrong with car in the next 10 days..
  11. Re cored radiator, new thermostat and coolant were fitted this morning, engine running mush cooler now, gauge used to climb more than I was happy with up hills. This afternoon has been taken up with fitting spot lamps and a 12 volt socket in the boot to power my cool bag and new spark plugs and leads. Off to a car show in her next Sunday at Tilford Rural life centre to see if the run over there shows up any niggles. As for other jobs I need to do, just another engine and gearbox oil change left before the run and may fit a CD player temporarily for the run.
  12. My beige beauty is now looking fabulous in its new paint. Had to buy a new battery today    Off to a classic car show on Monday at Bexhill on Sea. Will be using the car most days now for work in case any niggles appear before the run.
  13. Update on my beige beauty number 2. So the fabulous guys at Chipsaway Crawley have now finished the rust repairs and a few more that were discovered along the way . Started to prep for paint and sprayed a few test area's but were unhappy with the match even with a few shade changes from the supplier. The upshot is now the car is fully stripped and going into the booth for a full repaint tomorrow! Full on weekend for me now refitting all the doors, bonnet, bootlid and repainting the now scruffy looking wheels. Will be looking amazing and back on the road hopefully by September 1st. Just the rear brakes to replace and get the radiator re cored.
  14. My beige beauty number 2 is off to the bodyshop tomorrow. a few area's will be painted that I have prepared and epoxy primed. A small plate is also going to be stitched into the offside outer sill and nearside rear wing lower corner. Then once back home, just the rear shoes and cylinders to replace and another engine oil change before I'm ready for the run..

    Acclaim exhaust

I would be interested in a complete system for mine. Not in a rush as mine is fine at present but I have no intention of ever selling so always nice to have a spare for the future.
