    Compression

Ok. Great. Thanks. I was having a think about it. Seems odd that the back three are that much lower but I dont think the carbs were right. I have reset them so Ill try again. I have had a missfire for some time so suspect a cylinder and that is probably No. 2. didnt want to pull the head but maybe I should get on with it instead of putting it off. Thanks for your input chaps.

Thanks Nick. It was Warm with the throttle wide open and I have done the valves not long ago. I know not all gauges are not the same but what rough figure should I be looking for? Mark

    Compression

I did a compression test on the 2000 engine yesterday and the results are in 1 = 160 2 = 132 3 = 160 4 = 120 5 = 133 6 = 135 Now I know the manuals recommend no more than 5psi between cylinders but the 160 seems extreme. Is that where it should be or is the @ 130 more realistic? Thanks Mark
  4. Ok. Had a look yesterday and removed the master cylinder out the way and the servo has a slight leak from the center pin with the engine running so it is probably reduced efficiency and sometimes no efficiency. Ill get another one and go from there. Thanks for your help folks. Mark.
  5. Thanks Alan. Shows what little knowledge I have of these cars. Mark.
  6. So.... are all servos equal? Are they the same for all mk11's or are the servos for the duel circuit brakes different to the single line brakes or does it vary between 2000 or 2500 cars? Thanks Mark
  7. Just been through an MOT so rears are OK. Car was standing for 15 years just after rear wheel cylinders were replaced. I thought the front brakes were the same as stag. My mistake and now I realize they wont be so good as the stag. Still think the servo should be better. I'll have a look tomorrow. Mark.
  8. Here's another question for you. Is it possible to change the Diff oil seals with the Diff in place, ie bolted to the car? Thanks. Mark.
  9. Hi Thanks for the swift replies. Most of the time the servo is working but the brakes are nowhere near as good as the stag brakes. I think there may be a slight leak which is taking away the efficiency. It is only 2 or 3 times that the brakes have gone hard, usually after a start up at the end of the road. My foot definitely feels it if I have been driving the car for 20 mins or so. I'll look around it again and may punt a second hand one if I can't find anything. Thanks Mark.
  10. Hi. So I'm getting to grips with the new addition 2000. The brakes are crap basically (heavy). Sometimes i feel the Servo is not working all the time (solid and scary). The car has single line brakes. Is the braking better for a duel line car? And also is the servo just for  single line brakes on the 2000 or will other servos fit (ie stag) I am sure the servo is leaking air somewhere as you can hear it under the bonnet when you switch off but I don't know where from. Any help or comments appreciated. Mark.
  11. Hi. Me again. You can tell I haven't a clue about this car. The indicators don't work at all. In the glovebox was a relay (loose). Where is the indicator relay supposed to be so i can see if it works - is missing - where the wires are. Also, in my search, there is a wire next to the fusebox under the passenger side dash that looks like it should be attached to something. it is white with a light green line on it. Should this be attached to anything? Many thanks in anticipation Mark.
  12. Thanks Richard. That explains things. Has anyone done a mod for them or do we rely on second hand ones? Mark

  14. Hi again. Another question about the new wagon. 3 of the door check straps have snapped. Is this normal. Are they weak. Was the po heavy handed? Thanks Mark.
