  1. John, thanks for that idea, I've had a look at cw website and he lists 2 sizes of slave cylinder bore but only one master cylinder cw says 7/8 will give longer travel than 1" so I think I will have a look at what bore slave is already fitted and it might be a simply solution. Won't now if knee can cope until I try it, Spa at end of May so need to sort it before then. Regards Mike
  2. Due to problems with my knee I need to make the clutch pedal in my 1967 MK1 2000 lighter, I'd prefer to do this rather than stick an auto box in it. Although the car is a 1967 MK1 2000 it has been updated/graded to full 2500S spec. Can a remote servo be used with a clutch? Any ideas appreciated
  3. Anybody got a pair of stag front brake calipers for sale? Hopefully will be getting the rebuilt 2.5 engine back from the reconditioners soon but still running on MK1 2000 brakes with the 3/8" discs. Stag discs and calipers are cheaper than 2500 so I thought I would change to them with the 15" Minilites but need a pair of calipers to recon or exchange.
  4. I've got Saab 9000 seats in my MK1. Leather, heated and no logo but not an easy fit, runners too far apart. Waiting for the dye to arrive to colour match to rest of car. I've been to Italy via Stelvio pass in the Saab so I know the seats are comfortable!
  5. Richard, not mine it has 2 metal UJ's. My car has more peculiarities: appears it had vents cut into the inner wings, the bonnet has been modified on the underside to increase cooling, chassis has been modified to allow clearance for possible V8 exhausts, the battery is in the boot. I wonder if at some stage in the last 45 years have a V8 fitted, unfortunately no history came with car Mike
  6. I used ATF-Q / Dextron II because I already had it. The problem with my steering was the uj's in particular the top one. Because it isn't possible on my car to remove the shaft with the uj's on without removing the steering rack or column I just lubricated the uj's with diesel using a syringe. I've been doing it every day this week and at first rusty oil was coming out of the top one but that has now stopped. Mike
  7. I used ATF,  somebody else has suggested the UJs so I'm going to take them off to see if they have any tight spots and if they have I will give then a good soaking in diesel, it usually frees off anything seized. Mike
  8. I have a problem with the power steering on my 1967 MK1 2000. When driving the car after about 4 miles the steering stiffens up in the straight ahead position. By this I mean if you turn the steering a small amount more effort is required but if you turn to go round a corner no problem. I have left the car running for half an hour before driving it so the pas oil is hot but same problem OK at first then starts to tighten. I've drain the oil which was still bright/clean red. Any suggestions appreciated. Mike
