  1. Can anyone tell me how many exhaust brackets there should be on a 13/60? Mine has had a new exhaust fitted by the previous owner but it all hangs really low. It doesn't have any brackets until you get to the backbox. Is that right?
  2. It's a 1971 herald 13/60.   Is there anywhere you would suggest.  ?
  3. So it looks like my wheel bearings are knackered.  Does anybody know if the £15 wheel bearing kits off eBay are any good?? Is that the going rate or should I be spending more? Also, is it possible to fit them without a hydraulic press? Cheers guys.
  4. right then, i did a compression test today and these are the results. (psi) 1:   140 2:   130 3:   120 4:   140 carried out in that order, with all plugs removed, foot flat on the accelerator. what are your thoughts guys?
  5. Thanks guys, it's a bog standard 13/60.
  6. Thanks John, I'll give that a go before I go tearing it apart.
  7. So it looks like my head gasket is failing, (sludge of oil cap and slowly losing coolant. ) Can anyone tell me what I need to buy before doing this, are there any kits that's are good? Do I need new bolts etc or can I reuse everything? I've never changed a head gasket before so any hints and tips would be appreciated.   I've watched a vid on YouTube on changing one on a stag engine so I imagine it's pretty similar.   Also, should I do anything else while I'm at it? Cheers
  8. Thanks for the advice guys.   If I can't find a courier van spring which is probably very rare I imaging or an estate spring is is worth fitting one of the swing spring kits you can get along with a lowering block? http://www.canleyclassics.com/suspension-steering-and-brakes/swing-spring-conversion-kits/ As for the front, is it just a case of fitting shorter, stiffer springs? Or do I need more than that? As for the engine, I'll probably just do as you said and give it a good service.  It already has electronic ignition fitted so can I improve anything with that?
  9. Morning all, dave the newbie here, I'm picking up my first ever herald 13/60 next weekend which I've bought as a bit of a weekender/ mini project which I plan on doing the following, I want to lower it a bit to improve handling and the look, New set of wheels, Improve on the exhaust Tidy up the bodywork a bit but not go mad. I want to leave everything else original especially the interior. So, my question is......... are there any obvious mods I should do to the engine to get a few more horses out, without stripping it down and mucking about with cams etc.   It's running a single carb with standard breather box so is that worth swapping out or would I be wasting my time.   Cheers guys and gals.
