Also, would it be possible to fit spacer without removing spring again?

All joking aside about the old back, it's the camber that needs sorting cos the wheels are really kicking in at bottom, so much so the brake pipes haven't got much slack.

Not too low, at my age the poor old back needs a bit of comfort. Lol.

So I guess a 1/2 inch block would be sufficient.

Thankyou. That was going to be my next question about what size block to use. I will go for a 1 inch block and hope that sorts it out. Blooming frustrating though. Cheers.

Hmm! Mine have only got 5 leaves. I had read somewhere that early mk4 had a shorter axle than later and 1500 models. Oh well, think I might try repair kit for old spring over the winter months. Fingers crossed that will work. Thanks everyone. Vic.

Hi all. Firstly, thankyou all for your advice. I have tried it all but to no avail. So I have now come to the conclusion that I have been supplied with a rear spring for a late mk4 spitfire, which is longer than the early mk4 which I have. Will contact Rimmers to see if they can help. Thanks again for your advice , Vic

Thanks Amy, the old spring has done 100000 miles and is VERY sloppy, so I think it is past a rebuild. Hope to have good results at weekend. Vic

Well, took spitfire to Devizes car show today from home in Swindon, bit noisy when cold but sweet when warmed up. We'll pleased with car.😄😄 Thanks everyone.👍👍. Hope you all have a good summer. Vic
