  1. Hi has anyone got a DR3A wiper motor for spitfire mk3 please?
  2. Hope you have me on the list? I'm Midlands can travel tho. Would be good to help out after realising that neither I or my little Spit are up to taking part!! Lol
  3. No nobody has had it apart. Was working OK when speedo cable broke, fitted a new cable which appeared to be working OK when the speedo started playing up. Odo is working and recording correct mileage. We've bought a digital gps speed dial which works very well. 😁 Thanks all for comments
  4. Our speedo is playing up, odometer still working but the needle does its own thing, goes up and up, sticks at a speed then drops!! Anyone know someone to recondition her? Or should I look for a replacement?
  5. Not yet, hubby's got to find time!! And I keep wanting to drive her!!
  6. It was recommended to us on the drive it day yesterday, so thought we'd give it a go, at least it's daylight hours and something I feel lady penelope will manage, altho we have no speedo currently it stopped working on the way home yesterday!! Discovering the joys of classic car ownership 🤣🤣🤣
  7. Hi all, Looking for an overdrive gearbox for lady penelope, Mark 3 spitfire 1969. Does anyone have one or know somebody that does? I don't think I'll manage RBRR in her as she is 🤪
  8. Are you meeting tonight? If so do you go in your triumphs or not at this time of year? What time are you there?
  9. Thanks Wendy, I am in Bloxwich so not far at all, how late do you stay at Farmer Johns, I may struggle to get to streetly for 6pm, would be more 7-7.30, often not home from work til 6-6.30.
  10. Thanks Bruce, I am West Midlands, I will contact if needed, I spoke with my sister-in-law about the issues and advise from here and she is going to ask their friend if he would go and look at it, he was the reason my brother purchased the car in the first place as he has a spitfire.
  11. Thanks Alex, I am not concerned re the cost really but my Husband felt I had paid too much to have these issues. I just wanted to be sure that they aren't serious issues. I was so looking forward to seeing her yesterday, really excited and feel a little deflated.
  12. Really need some advice, please be honest and frank. We went to see our 1969 mk 3 spitfire yesterday, we havent been involved in its restoration as my brother bought her in 2018 and unfortunately passed away in 2019. I wanted to purchase it from my sister in law for sentimental reasons more than anything and have paid £13k to my sister in law. ??? is this far too much ? There are some items on their snag list, - the rear suspension, driver door doesnt shut properly or open from the inside, and the horn isnt working. However my husband noticed that the bonnet is not sitting correctly the 'shut line' is out, it has about a 3/4inch gap on the drivers side to the scuttle panel and it is very tight and already rubbing the paint on the passenger side - is this a common issue, ? easily fixed - or a problem ?? the workshop did not have it on his snag list to rectify and this is concerning my husband greatly. Also the new roof is very slack and there is a very large gap at the top of the passenger side that will certainly let rain in and wind, again is this a common issue, should we insist on it being rectified?? Please be critically honest, I will hold my hands up to buying the car for sentimental reasons, but I really would like to enjoy her and don't want a host of issues that will mar this experience.
  13. its a standard spring and no hasnt been driven yet, only a few hundred yards around the garage workshop lol they are intending to get miles on her.
  14. we went to see her today, they have fitted a new rear spring and trying to fathom out why they can't get rid of the positive camber it is quite severe, is this normal? will just weight in the boot sort it? they were talking about repainting the old spring and putting that back on? I had been looking in the forum to see if there were any posts regarding this.
  15. Here's mine!! Still in the workshop, a few snags to be sorted but should be on the road in just a couple of weeks. Hilton Spitfire Squad.
  16. @RobPearce thankyou, I have entered!! I will purchase crew member when I know who is crazy enough to join me. Hilton spitfire squad !! - newbies
  17. So !! How hard is it !! My spitfire has been in restoration for the last 3 years, my brother purchased her and was so excited about the project but unfortunately passed away 2 years ago. I have purchased her from my sister in law. I have never driven a spitfire but am really excited to get her. Should have her in the next week or two. My husband just keeps laughing at me saying I'll hate driving her as its uncomfortable, no power steering etc etc. The RBRR sounds fab, but he is telling me I'm mad!!
