Progress has slowed for team 74 after a visit to hospital yesterday for an eye irritation was found to be something stuck in my eye, got to wait till tuesday at the eye clinic to have it removed, so im just doing whatever i can till its sorted ..... its going to be very close.
-
Is there any left to be sold at the start ?
-
Quoted from shed66
jobs left to do
oil change for diff
rewire spots
head gasket change
Is that the order of importance lol -
Unfortunately team 74 will not be able to make it to the meet due to the need to finish the car so i will pick up our drivers pack at the start.
-
Managed to get a bit more progress today on the 1500tc without any setbacks.
jobs left to do;-
refit petrol tank and connect to fuel line
fit rear brakes (cylinders, shoes and pipes)
remove discs and calipers from kynki toledo and fit to 1500tc ( calipers seized and no time to sort them) and new pipes
fit horn , front grills and bumper
fit one track rod end
replace 2 head lights that have blown
sort out wheels and tyres
fit thermostat and top hose
fit middle and tail pipe of exhaust
some repairs still need stoneguarding / primer ( no time to paint car it is what it is)
might have to replace rear springs and shockers
oil and filter and change gearbox oil, check rear axle , and other servicing
maybe a few other small jobs cant see anything major now.
hopefully have a good weekend to do all the above if not most of it then get it in for MOT later on next week.
now things are coming together and close to being finished im really looking forward to the RBRR
STEVE -
Still got plenty to do but hopefully it will all come together, think the mot will be in the week of the start.
-
Busy day today , engine / box and subframe all bolted in,fitted manifolds / carbs / frontpipe and propshaft with new centre bearing also got a speedo cable out of my spares as there wasnt one in the car.
-
Times ticking by ...... any chance of an MOT at one of the signing in stops 😉
-
Team 74 progress made today, all welding finish just needs stone chipping ans everything putting back together now 😲
-
On the last RBRR we used our toledo with herald 13/60 engine in and had no problems with the engine size compared to the 1500's
-
Still 50 days to go ................................ we might be ready in 49 😲

Team 17's officially entered car still needs: painting, wiring harness, door locks, windows, boot hinges, dashboard, steering column, seats, handbrake, carburettors, lights... then the engine's first run in twenty years, MOT, tax, a bit of a shakedown...
OK, so team 17's reserve car... needs the fuel flooding issue sorted out, new battery, probably new headlights (the reflectors have seen better days) and ideally a fresh MOT (due mid-October but better to sort in advance).
Hopefully the second reserve needs nothing...
Sounds like our entry car, but we do have the toledo as back up.

Is there a printable sponsor form ?

Yes Steve, that's the one - was a half decent game. Although, that was in the early 90's when I was about 6 or 7... But as a principle of how the game could work, I think it could be a good basis for RBRR.
Not sure how much it would cost to get a custom board game made up for around 100 sets or so... a lot would be my guess.
I wonder if there would be much interest in RBRR top trumps card game, might not be as expensive to produce. -

There was a board game called 'Race Around Britain' - if anyone can find a set it would be a good basis for it. Had questions and trivia about the places. Would be very good. Might sell well outside of the club if made to be 'accessible'.
That'll be this one then

An RBRR board game would be good
-
I liked the 2012 T shirt with the motorway destination/ mileage sign on the back, perhaps do a 60's style sign.
could they put a list of all the cars, model, reg ,colour etc that have done the RBRR in the book, it would be interesting to know how many still survive.

also...... The traffic isn't bad leaving London if you know where you are going...
I obviously dont know where im going as seem to be playing catch up from the off lol 🤔 -
It is great to see that we are up to 140 cars booked in,but if by some miracle we all get done whats needed to be at the start will we be good to go as 140 ?
I do hope so, it would be a shame for people to be turned away for the 1st time.
