  1. Thanks both of you. That has fixed the problem, and changing the car is now simple!
  2. Sorry Chris, I must be a real dunce because I have tried everything I can see in the thread and am still going round in circles unable to edit my car entry. It doesn't matter to me what car is listed, but I will definitely be using the Acclaim and my concern is that the entries need to be up to date to comply with the MSA permit. Is that correct?
  3. Hi Chris, I got your message saying that emails have not been getting through. I need to change my car too, (team 20, now taking beige Acclaim VRD 809Y), but am not getting as far as James with amending my details on the entry list. No doubt it is down to my incompetence with the system, but although I've logged on, every time I click on my entry in the list it pulls up the details in four neat boxes, yet I am unable to edit any text. Am I missing an obvious 'edit' button?

    Acclaim exhaust

Thanks Jon, you will have to let people know when you need the exhaust to copy and the car to trial fit. In the meantime, anyone who is interested around the £300 mark for a full system as discussed, do let me know. Also, you mentioned the flange size earlier. I have just measured the one on my car and it is about 79mm between bolt centres. Perhaps somebody with one off the car could give you a more exact measurement if you needed it to help with the planning?

    Acclaim exhaust

Good news on the workshop, Jon. I think you have hit the nail on the head that a run of mild steel exhausts would dent the demand enough to make a second run in stainless unviable, and that everyone would prefer stainless even if it costs more. Happy to be corrected on that via feedback, but I don't really want to stand behind a run of mild steel exhausts and have them take up permanent residence in my garage while everybody waits for the stainless version. So my money would be on a run of five in stainless with the flexi-joint as Barry described, either flanged or sleeved as you think appropriate. If you could do them for £300 each, then I reckon it is worth going ahead. And Pawel – I expect you will get better answers from people who know a lot more than me, but I was told that a MkI Civic back box will fit, but that the entire exhaust will be too short. Unfortunately I don't know just where the inches are lost. I was also told that a Mk2 Civic exhaust is longer and might fit, though.

    Acclaim exhaust

Thanks Barry. I'm not sure whereabouts you are based, but is there an easy way to get this to Jon in the Coventry/Warwick area? It looks a little big to fit in the post box.

Thanks for that Dan, and the offer of lending the exhaust to Jon. I am also trying to find an original pipe closer to him in the Warwick/Coventry area, but we may well take you up on that. Can I just check – is it an entire system you have that we could borrow, or just the resonator section that Barry pictured above?

    Acclaim exhaust

The interest so far is for four systems, though I am the only definite. I am happy to stand behind a run of five though, as I am sure the rest will sell eventually even if it takes a while. Personally I am not too bothered about an exact match to the original for the rear silencer etc, and would be happy for Jon to decide the final spec based on all the helpful advice from Barry and elsewhere. I can also leave my Acclaim with Jon so that he has a car for the prototyping to ensure it all fits properly (would that be possible Jon?), but would appreciate a lift back from Warwick towards Bourne in south Lincolnshire – any offers? One last thing Jon. I know you are inclined towards mild steel to keep the cost down and make the prototyping easier, but I think people would be more inclined towards buying a system if they were stainless steel.

    Acclaim exhaust

So far I've got interest in four exhausts, so it is definitely viable. I will get back to those who have expressed an interest once we have a better idea of the choices concerning price, material and originality.

    Acclaim exhaust

Thanks for all the help and advice, Barry. In case anybody else is reading this, could they let us know if they are also interested in an exhaust? Obviously the unit price will be better for us all if we can commission a batch. Not looking for deposits, just trying to gauge interest and then we can come up with some prices.

    Acclaim exhaust

Incidentally, I got my car on a ramp yesterday to take some pictures of the exhaust on there. Comparing it to your picture Barry, it looks as though mine has already been cobbled together out of non-standard parts. Certainly the back box is a different shape.

Thanks for the offer, Barry. I am getting some quotes together, but will hold off a little while to see if Jon has any luck with premises. Meanwhile, is anybody else interested if I end up having a batch made?

    Acclaim exhaust

A bit of a long shot, but does anybody know of an Acclaim exhaust system for sale, or can anyone recommend a specialist who could make a new one from scratch?
