  1. It looks suspicously like a " core plug" which as you say is a seal for the water system. There are a few different types and Im pretty sure someone will be on shortly to tell you which you need. Ive only had to do one once and it is fairly easy to tap the old one out and the new one in. Your grandad will probably be able to tell you how they used to use an old penny when they were unable to get the real plugs.
  2. Not keen to go electric, there isnt any reason why a mechanical pump shouldnt be reliable they have been around long enough. Im going to put my Torino one back on, with the change out of all the rubber to ethanol proof hose and only short lengths on bends otherwise it will be kunifer all the way. Ive added a new filter before the pump.I will check it regularily until I can get an AC pump. I may start a fuel pump museum or attach one to my home brew barrel
  3. Looking at Rimmers again I dont suppose its as simple as you need to use the spacer with the straight arm ? My car didnt have a spacer ?
  4. Thanks guys for the info I appreciate it, I agree the original parts diagrams show a bend in the arm and all the aftermarket pumps seem to have a straight arm. Do we think Its the arm that dictates the pressure or the length or strength of the spring ? All I want to do is use the correct pressure pump that I know I can carry spares for. If you look at all the adverts on fleabay they all say suitable for my model but all have the straight arm.
  5. I will need to call them and canleys and see if they can confirm what pump suits, you say you bought a vitesse pump that is a different item code. I did check that the one I got has the right Item code for the Herald Herald FUEL PUMP(208493) Vitesse FUEL PUMP 2L MK1/11(213577)
  6. Paddocks are one of my prefered suppliers, their code is the same as Canleys. I bought the pump from paddocks about a year ago and they confirmed the item code . That was kind of what I was trying to find out, if anyone had a bought a pump recently for a Herald that definately worked ie: ran at about 2lbs Or are all the new pumps the same ? As Ive now got an AC kit going spare so Id like to get hold of one to refurb I know I can always get spares then which I cant for the two Ive got.
  7. Yes, when I bought it but I know now its a widely reported issue with replacements. They are too strong.
  8. Unfortunately you cant swap springs, they are all different. I can put the original Itie pump back but it looks to me like A) its missing one filter and B) the filter is a small tubelar affair that is easily full. I will put it back to get it running but long term as I have an AC kit would like a refurbed pump with the disc filter.
  9. I kept getting rubber of some description which blocked the very small filter inbthe italian pump I had.  I have a suspicion the "R9" hose I bought may have been cheap rubbish. I am in the process of fitting some good quality ethanol proof hose but replacing rubber for metal under the bonnet. I thought replacing the pump would be easy but the "new" one supplied by paddocks is the correct code but as you say has a straighter arm. It runs at 10x the pressure of my old pump. I was going to overhaul my spare and fit that once I had blown out the whole run. Incidentaly I fitted a decent filter on the supply pipe but still got the crud so can only have come from the short length of rubber to the pump.
  10. Anyone got a spare genuine AC pump that would suit a 1360 or can anyone point me to a supplier for an aftermarket that runs at the correct pressure (1.5lbs) ?  Ive had issues again with fuel starvation and found the pump had blocked again. The pump fitted by the PO turned out to be Turino Italian made one and the design probably makes a blockage more likely. I dug out a spare what I thought was an AC pump and bought an AC kit, unfortunately that is also an aftermarket copy of an AC and the kit dont fit. The new pump I bought from Paddocks (powertune) runs at 10lbs so is no good
