Sorry to report... the FloFlex bushes I bought (for a Land Rover) lasted less than a year. That was over 10 years ago though, so maybe they've improved since. These days I just play it safe with SuperPro/SuperFlex

Over the last 5 years I’ve bought Floflex for both my Alfa’s and now the GT......No issue 🤷‍♂️

Hopefully things have changed, did you question it with Floflex by any chance?

Do NOT buy the cheap orange crap that seems to be everywhere.

Superflex (witor) superpro or whiteline if you want stuff that works and lasts.

Personally, there are situations where i prefer rubber. I.e. stag/saloon rear subframe/crossmemer mounts. Being a bit sad, i spend my time looking for NOS bushes. They are out there.

    Hi Roger,

I’ve fitted Floflex bushes to previous cars and never had any issues, I don’t think the colour has anything to do with the quality as they can be any colour the manufacturer chooses. I can only assume you may have bought ‘orange’ ones in the past that were not up to the task?

Floflex are a UK manufacturer based in Wrexham (I think) and as many other suppliers they do sell on eBay but you can deal directly if you so choose.

Many different suppliers will choose a particular colour, such as red, blue or black to identify their product, Floflex choose orange but that does not in itself point to a poor product.

Hi there guys thanks for all your help on my other post!

I would also like to know your thoughts on shock absorbers. Orginal or upgraded (eg gaz) if so which ones?

    cheeers jacob

    Hi Jacob,

I have posted a long investigation into shock absorbers in the technical section and as Rob indicated, if you have a rotoflex GT6 then sadly the original standard inner arch mounted shocks are extremely difficult to source.

I have opted for the Gaz option but still arch mounted as per the original, available from several Triumph suppliers but do shop around.

You ‘can’ obtain KYB standard alternatives but again you will need to try and source them from a supplier, cost is approx £80+ a pair compared to the Gaz @ over £150

Check out my post in the technical section 👍

  4. I’ve just fitted Floflex poly bushes to the front of mine and I must say the difference was noticeable straight away.

The original rubber bushes removed were in pretty good shape but I doubt I could have said the same if they were the newer rubber bushes available these days?

Personally, doing the job now you are better off with poly bushes, it will save on costs longer term - PS. Opt for the stainless steel crush tubes if given the option 👍

I once used one of those to retrieve a bolt that dropped down the timing case on a Rover V8.... that saved a HUGE amount of work and time!

The spring claw that pops out the end is ideal when the magnet isn’t strong enough, I’ve rescued nuts, bolts and even bulbs that have disappeared into the voids of an engine bay 👍

Oh goodness, how can I look any of the tools in the eye and have them know that they aren't my favourite?

The angle grinder would win, for its unparalleled ability to turn metal into sparks, but it nearly bit my thumb off, so it's in the dog-house... The welder is pretty special, and it's amazing how many jobs become welding problems - until you burn through a glove and leave your hand permanently scarred... The humble chisel is a noble beast - until you slip, stab yourself in the thigh and end up in front of your landlady with your trousers down while she straps you up... The cordless drill is very good, but I seem to end up putting holes in my hands, and the versatility of battery power means it happens anywhere...

I'm kinda leaning towards my set of palm ratchets. At least they haven't tried to kill me. Yet.

Had a giggle at this Ian....do you have 999 on quick dial 🤔😂😂

Should you be allowed near any power tools (or tools in general)

Its just economics. As slimboyfat said at the beginning, the market is too small/niche to be able to make a production shock.

Gaz are, effectively hand building. Thats relected in the cost.

But you can still buy standard units over the pond, these are KYB dampers rebadged to GSA280HD (off a GMC Truck) - There can’t be that many rotoflex GT6’s in the States either 🤷‍♂️

I suppose someone has latched on that they also fit the Triumph & being massed produced, they cream a few off for Triumph’s - I’m aware Spitbits sell them as GSA280HD.

There are companies within the UK that order and use the same damper, they’re just missing a trick/opportunity.

    What’s wrong with Gaz?

Nothing wrong with Gaz as non-standard dampers, it’s just the fact that OEM style dampers are no longer available.

So rather than pay £50/£70 for a pair of adequate dampers, you are forced to pay £150+ for something you didn’t (given a choice) want 🤷‍♂️

  9. So after days trying, I’ve had to give in and order the Gaz dampers from Rimmers.

The KYB ones are available within the warehouse in the UK but try as I might, you just can’t get anyone to actually order them....even after contacting KYB-Europe for assistance 🤷‍♂️

So, my simple next question is - What’s the best setting to set these Gaz ones to for normal every day driving?

Unless you go Gaz or modify the damper position, it seems rotoflex standard dampers are no longer available.

I have totally given up on Blackcircles and concluded that they could not organise a p**s up in a brewery and cancelled my order and will be fitting the Falken Ecorun Ziex which my local supplier are doing at a much better price than Blackcircles & can fit immediately...

They are only middle men, the offers they suggest on certain tyres are nonexistent as you can get them cheaper direct - It’s a big scam!

They were good when they first started off but as everything else they’ve just become greedy.

I had seen all this information, these dampers are re-labelled by Triumph suppliers as GSA280HD’s and sold as compatible with Rotoflex GT6’s.

I have a pair on order so we will see when they arrive?

Mine are marked on the box: "Shock Absorber Rear G

    GSA280HD"

That could be a Spibits part number.

On the shock itself is stamped "344068".

    Hi Ed,

I’ve just found the last 2 of these (344068 Excel-G dampers) on Amazon and placed an order, we will see when they arrive - Thanks for sending the KYB part number, that helped a lot 👍

The Number mentioned is the KYB part number and is their Excel-G shock absorber, it’s a little longer than the one I’ve mentioned above.....

Finally found the correct KYB shock absorbers, now to locate them in the UK.......🤷‍♂️

Should have guessed, only available to our cousins over the pond.....WHY?

Back to the drawing board unless KYB Europe pull a rabbit out of the hat 😡

Gaz dampers seems to be the only option......

Found a mention of the travel on the Koni 80-2089, slightly mixed up with the normal one

    1/2" bolt is 14" to 9.5"

    5/8" bolt is 12" to 9 5/8"

Just checked the ones fitted (Girling) they are just over 13” with wheel jacked off the ground, so the Koni ones look about right......🤔
