The stupid thing is there’s NO short of fuel
A local independent, they’ve got 13 garages,, say they have got plenty of fuel it’s just the panic buyers are emptying the tanks as fast as they can fill them

whilst ,in some ways i would agree. that a sweeper/recovery [call it what you like] car could be seen as going against the spirit of of the event..are we forgetting that the origin of the event was , for the triumph motor company to prove how reliable their NEW cars were
these cars are no longer new and a bit of a helping hand shouldn't be dismissed..whether it's from a fellow participant or a couple of nerfherders in a modern ,sometimes a pair of fresh eyes can spot an easy solution to what seems an unfixable one
a couple of things i did notice though...one car carrying way too many tools..more than they could hope to use ..and one car was def lacking a bit or pre event prep [ i know mine wasn't there due to a failing new part]
i think..out of the 9 or 10 cars we helped 3 or 4 ended up being recovered
as for the route ...the sunday pm def needs tidying as long as the cake fest stays

we only had a few spares with us...i just grabbed a couple of boxes out of the saloon and slung them in the back of the truck...these were 6 spot spares
full set of ignition inc distributor
alternator
belts
wheel bearings
leccy bits
leccy fuel pump
fuel .well petrol ..not diesel
i know there is the reliability aspect to it but we are dealing with cars, in some cases . that are older than the owners so not expecting to have to change something on a long trip could be classed as unrealistic..and that's where the spares list comes in ..who's carrying what.and a fresh pair of eyes can oft see a problem previously overlooked

It was a case of making best of a bad situation, as a new part failed on my saloon, on the way to the start, we arrived in katies modern triuck.not the done thing to do a triumph event in a toyota, so they prety much invented the job of course closing/ rescue truck.it was hard, but an enjoyable task
-
Greta .you were in little danger of the sweepers overtaking you ..at one point, friday night we were running 2hrs behind latest arrival time...by gledrig we'd managed to claw it back to arrive 10 mins after the last car had left

some people prefer the face to face put it on a bot of paper method
-
this will be the first choice completely bog standard car...apart from the wheels, diff, engine, exhaust ,seats
