  1. I need to get the car from home (SG5 3SS) to Devon (EX18 7SN) on Sunday 3rd September or Monday 4th while Sue and I travel down in convoy in the daily driver. Is there any one with a trailer who can help out? If so please PM me with proposal, cash awaits.

  2. I am having a clear out prior to a house move and have a variety of parts and accessories for sale. Many suit other Triumph models. If of possible interest please PM me for a detailed list. I would be happy to provide pictures if required. I am located near Hitchin in Hertfordshire.

  3. I would like to wish all entrants on this event the very best of luck. The route looks epic (well done Chris and Howard)) and  I only wish that I could also be taking part this time. All being well I look forward to resuming C2C activity wef next year. In the meantime I will derive vicarious pleasure by following this year's event and reading subsequent reports.

  4. Speedograph Richfield in Nottingham overhauled and calibrated my speedo in 1994 and apart from one recent issue of an erratic needle, which I solved by servicing the flexible drive as above, the instrument has performed perfectly for nearly 30 years. According to the wife's satnav it is spot on to +/- 1mph all the way up to the NSL and, according to extended tests against km markers over long stretches of motorway the odometer over-reads by just 1.5%.

  5. We are moving to a flat in Barnstaple with completion on 1st August and have accepted an offer on Waysmeet. We are yet to exchange but all being well will be off to Devon late August/early September. This presents me with a problem, since Sue is unable to drive long distances and we cannot therefore take our two cars down in convoy. I have obtained three more or less eyewatering quotes to trailer the TR to Barnstaple and it occurred to me that there might be a better option. I wonder if anyone would be prepared to drive down in convoy and bring me back home to Holwell (SG5 3SS near Hitchin in Hertfordshire). The round trip from here would be around 480 miles, easily accomplished with an early start in a day by a hard core CT enthusiast - think of it as a pre-RBRR shake down perhaps or take your daily driver. I would of course cover the other driver's fuel costs and any meals en route and hope someone fancies helping me out.

You can get great quality hoses from these guys, make sure you also use good quality clamps http://classicsiliconehoses.uk

+1 for these people. Fit and forget and if you go for black visually indistinguishable from conventional rubber hoses. Another benefit is that silicone hoses are easier to remove, eg when draining the system to replace coolant, they don't weld themselves so assiduously to outlets.

Black 15'' leather motolita is a good choice. I have them in my TR6 and mk1 Saloon and very good they are. Expensive!

Astrali wheels seem to be rated as well.

One or two others have a bad reputation.

+1 for a  Moto-Lita wheel. I have had a black leather covered  14" flat Moto-Lita in my 4A for over 50 years and have been very happy with the function and appearance. I like the chunky feel - I can't be doing with a thin hard plastic-rimmed steering wheel. The Moto-Lita is showing some wear at the ten and two o'clock  positions but I consider that patina after all this time.

  8. Well done indeed and so nice to see plenty of Childline plaques displayed.  I wasn't able to get out in the 4A today as it's currently  off the road with the wiper system in bits. I have my plaque however and will display it retrospectively on future outings to show support.

  9. Impressive wiper performance in torrential rain Kevin. Remind me, did you retain the original 4A wiper motor when you fitted the new wheel boxes? I also note that at the extreme of travel the ends of both wiper blades slightly override the windscreen rubber. What gear wheel is fitted in the motor?

  10. North London Garages Group Training Association has been providing training for aspiring motor mechanics for over 50 years. The chief executive, Colin Denton, runs a very nice Stag and is well into classics. I first met Colin at the Capel Manor Show in September 2021 and have cultivated the acquaintance since then. Last year he told me of plans for a new classic car TV series to be filmed at his establishment in Ponders End, which would involve tinker sessions for classic car owners and he told me that CT members would be welcome to bring their cars along to work on. I posted the invite on the Forum and some members took up the opportunity. See details of the new series below, should be worth a watch.
