Last Thursday I went to the Silver Ball cafe on the A10 near Royston for a nice drive out and a spot of lunch.
Driving along the A10 I found two very large Red Deer (I think) in the hedgerow. About 1 mile apart and both very dead.
Whatever hit them would have had significant damage.
At the cafe there were two Trojan micro cars and a Durkoff 1957 scooter - all three in concours condition.
The TRojans were an Isetta shaped bubble car in red and a Messerschmidt shaped micro.
All three were stunning.

You should have given me a call Roger, could have met you there.

I had a narrow escape a few years ago driving down a straight narrow country road with high hedges either side when a deer jumped over the hedge on the left landing on the road a foot or so in front of the car and without breaking stride it jumped over the hedge on the right and vanished. The fields either side and the deer before and after were invisible as the road was at a lower level. If the car had arrived fractions of a second earlier it would have either landed on the bonnet or the roof like I'd been bombed so no chance of avoiding it which is quite a scary as they seriously can jump.
A friend of mine hit a deer head on and did a lot of damage to his car and as a result fitted a siren to his grille which apparently emits a high pitch sound when moving that is inaudible to humans but is supposed to warn wildlife. Don't know how effective or "deer' they are though 😂
Many years ago on a night rally with my car club in Harpenden while I was driving down a very narrow lane a Muntjac leapt from one side to the other clean over my TR! They are phenomenal athletes, I regularly saw them leaping over the 6' chain link fence at the end of our garden.

Is that perhaps the voice of experience Roger? 😬

I will be approaching 78 in September 2024 but hope to be fit enough to add another 10CR to my nine to date (if you include the 2003 exploratory trip). More likely it will depend on whether I can get ticket of leave and find a compatible co-driver.

That's a thumbs up for the Group 4 rally Escort item from me as well. Very happy to have replaced the lower rubber coupling on my 4A column with one of these years ago. No play at all and no transmission of road shock to the steering wheel. I retained the upper rubber coupling, which probably assists in this regards or ]. Thanks Amy. Can I book you in definitely for Sunday? Are you wanting help or advice for anything in particular or are you just wanting to be involved in the background? There will be a roving camera operator filming all the background cars and they will be filming chats amongst car owners and some short interviews with those attending. They will also take drone shots of the general vibe of the day.

The production company, Clockwork Films, has just been in touch and apologised for the short notice. They have another 'tinker weekend' planned for 10/11 September at North London Garages G.T.A., Redburn Industrial Estate, 39 Woodall Road, Ponders End EN3 4LQ and are looking for a good turnout of classics to form a suitable background for the drone filming that is planned. It should be a fun day with members of other car clubs in attendance. Filming will take place on both Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 to 19.00 and anyone interested is asked to be there with their car by 09.30. Lunch will be provided, I am advised, at around 14.30.
I plan to attend on Saturday 10th. If any other member plans to go could they please let me know asap and on which day, so I can let Clockwork Films know re catering. tim@timothyhunt.co.uk or PM me or text 07717 472115.
I hope to see a good show of CT cars.

Good advice. Fuel price is particularly high in Italy currently so would be good to refuel in Austria, Slovenia or Switzerland before crossing the border. (If appropriate depending on route of course). However, if your route in Italy takes you through Livigno be aware that it is a tax-free zone and petrol there is 20% less than anywhere else in the country. Of course try to avoid filling up at a motorway service station anywhere, in many countries these are the most expensive locations. as in the UK. Good luck to all entrants.

Yes indeed do enjoy it! I would suggest you check out fuel prices in the different countries as they vary quite a bit at present and filling up just before a border could save quite a sum or cost you quite a bit more than the other side of the border.

I am disappointed to have seen no further posts on this thread since Don's of 4th March. I hope that any 10CR entrants planning to attend have had the courtesy to RSVP to this kind invitation and I look forward to seeing some crews in Lubenham tomorrow.

It was only 205 miles door to door return for me Wendy and, as they say, nowhere's far in a TR!

Just back home from a great day out at the Lincs Aviation Museum. Several passes by a Lancaster and Spitfire of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight were added bonuses. Many thanks to Darren Sharp for organising the visit. Good turnout of various Triumph models.

What a dreadful shock. Very sad. We met Nuala on the RBRR2018 we tried to keep up with the yellow peril but failed mostly….except when the co-pilot was driving!!
Nuala was certainly a great advocate of long distance events and a great loss to the Triumph world.
Our condolences to her family and friends.
Ben & Vicky
Ben, do you mean Vicky could keep up or either of you could if Nuala's co-driver was at the wheel?

Indeed shocking news Dave. Nuala was always such an infectiously enthusiastic participant in Club activities. You may have noticed that on Monday she posted on the Forum in connection with filming next month in Enfield for an episode of a planned TV series which was to have featured work on her rally spitfire, alas now never to be. Hopefully she will get the chance to met her hero John Gretener, along with many other rally legends gone to that special stage in the sky.
RIP Nuala

In August (19th - 21st) I'm hoping to join the company behind Bangers & Cash to do some filming of my nearly finished Spitfire Rally Car for a program they hope to broadcast. My problem is I'm from Cumbria & filming will be in Enfield, London and I'll be without the use of car for the duration.
Can any here recommend any affordable hotels, B&B.s or AirBnB or house sit possibilities that might be local or have convenient Public Transport access to an EN3 post code. Thanks
Nuala
Is this for the Clockwork Films project Nuala, to be filmed at North London Garages G.T.A.? If so well done, I think you are the only CT member to have been contacted after expressing interest. Hope you have the chance to get a gentle plug in for the Club!

If you change hoses from rubber to silicon and use Mikalor clamps, which have a wider area of fit, then that should alleviate looking for cracked rubber.....or just replace with new rubber and clamps. Also ensure that the clamp is fitted way past the sealing lips on the males.
+1 for Mikalor type clamps

Howard is referring to A.R. Pound, tel. 01462 892704. Speak to Fred, he has done several jobs for me over the years, on the TR and daily drivers, and I have always been pleased by the quality of work and very reasonable pricing. The place always looks a pickle but don't let that worry you!
