  1. You don't need paint Chris, it's just extra weight - besides plastic doesn't rot anyway does it? I think at the moment we only have around 16 entries so have opened up the entry to a couple of other clubs - we really need a minimum of 20 entries to make this viable, so if we can't break the two score mark we may be forced to pull the plug which would be a major disaster as far as I'm concerned but a blessing for Harold as triple running with a sickish engine will cost me a gallon of oil!

    Seriously though, the 60 no entry we had 3 or 4 years ago was near unmanageable but the 40 last year was brill. Much less than 25 and we will have to consider whether or not there is sufficient demand to run again next year if we lose Bovingdon (which is reasonably priced) as they have a planning battle for change of use etc in October. If we are forced to start paying silly money for a venue then 25 entries or fewer will be a definite non-starter, even 40 might be pushing it.

    If there is a specific reason why you are not entering this year but intend to do so next year can you please indicate such so that we have some idea for planning next year's calendar of events, if you intend entering this year - Hurry Up!

Not only did he win the Nobel prize without knowing it, he also 'discovered' a certain (or very uncertain until recently 'discovered' for a paltry few billion Galactic credits) 'God Particle'. Now THAT'S Quantum Physics! See you in rthe pub - or not if I get there too soon!

  3. For anyone who might be interested there will also be the opportunity to try your hand at the Drifting Experience in Toyota GTs with an instructor and possibly the skidpan too.   5. I have a funny feeling that team Harold will be there too, possibly with team Spit in attendance depending on whether or not Nigs wants the 3rd seat in H. Now have new Solo wheels/tyres thanks to Ellis-bay so just have to repair exhaust and attend to MoT (ahem!)............. as a trifle pre-occupied with a few jam-jars bound for that their Johnny Foreigner-Land at pres.

  6. 3 of us; Michael Helm, Matt Barker and I took part in the Oxford MC Bocardo Autosolo at Silverstone yesterday. Some of the machinery on display there in the right hands (and it was) is scorchingly quick. Stuart Harrison in the Zetec engined GBS Zero (think Caterham) blew the Scoobys away, mind you at 350 bhp per ton what do you expect?

    Michael won the class, Matt B was 2nd and just to reinfoce last year's Drivers Challenge result I proved to be the strongest driver in class by holding the others up (you can interpret that any way you like actually). Doug & Katie Foreman were due to join the fun in Connie, Doug's 2000, but she (Connie) threw a strop and unfortunately they couldn't make it in time - I hope to see you both on an event soon, ours at Bovingdon in July if not before?

    For the benefit of anyone who is interested but a little worried about either damaging their pride and joy (or car!) or just their pride - don't be. While I was marshalling I got chatting to a chap on only his 2nd Solo who said "What I like about this is that you get all sorts out there. That Peugeot 206 out there now is my wife (I think he meant the driver) and although she only potters round, she's having a great time". To my chagrin after a disastrous first Test she was beating me!

  7. I think you can definitely add Matt and I in either Harold or Matt's Spit (must get him to name it) or possibly both (unlikely). Although this is fairly late in the year it had to be so as we wouldn't have had a Monday or Friday at that price any earlier in the year. It's also worth pointing out that November in Sussex can be like September elsewhere in the country and even like July in the frozen Norff - eh Mr Charlton? When we were up t'ut mega Norff 3 weeks ago on the HCR there were still 3 foot snow drifts (really), shivering lambs (seriously) and brass monkeys looking sadly bereft (OK I know).  ;)

  8. Unfortunately due to other commitments I will not be going with you next year. The 10CR has become my favourite CT event (favourite event of any kind actually) and just seems to have got better and better with time like most of the stuff we do, in a process of evolution rather than revolution. I shall miss being there and would ask you all to raise a glass to the four eyed, bearded, half Welsh g*t when you get to Rolduc for that now legendary de-brief.

    Now with my official hat on, given that I'm currently the bloke with the sign on his desk which reads "The Buck Stops Here" as far as officialdom, particularly the MSA are concerned (not that I have a desk, or a sign actually, more an oil stain on a bench really but still, in a certain light .................. ) it is my painful duty to remind those of you who are considering going touring yourselves 'off route', that if you publicise, discuss in detail, advertise or formulate an 'unofficial route' you must do so elsewhere or by means of personal contact, phone calls, e-mails etc only. If you do so on or in any CT medium including this forum, the use of that route then becomes an event requiring a permit in order that we don't violate the terms of our MSA affiliation.

    Needless to say we would not be able to organise or run any of the driving events which we do without the benefit of an MSA permit and the insurance cover which that affords and are not therefore willing to risk it. Equally perhaps, needless to say, if it starts looking like we might get lumbered with having to apply for permits to cover 'events' other than the one which we are actually running, that would end up with at least somebody being put in an awkward if not downright untenable position and as much as I love this club, I really don't want that person to end up being me.

    If a group of people decide to go off on a trip seperately or together as individuals, that's entirely up to them even if most of them are members of this club and it's all fine and dandy. If it has been 'organised' here though, it isn't. Apologies for the sermon but I felt I had to say this.
