  1. Also anyone know the route for the side/indicator and outer headlights. Do they come under the chassis rail or through the hole in the head lamp panel. Thanks Mike
  2. Thanks that would be a great help. Mike
  3. Hi I am rewiring the front lights on my dolomite sprint which I took apart many years ago. Can anyone tell me the route of the wiring loom for the front lights. does it go above or below the radiator. Any pics would help to. thank Mike.
  4. Hi I am interested in the gt6 manual is it still available and which mk does it cover. where about are you Thanks
  5. Thanks for the help can now put my order in and be another step closer the getting the dolomite sprint on the road. Mike
  6. Hi Clive Thanks for the reply it has been very helpful. I will probably go with 3 relays (2 for main beam 1 for headlight) with 3 separate 2mm thin wall to feed them fitted with 15amp fuses. Then use 2mm, 25amp thinwall blue/White, blue/red to keep the colour's original. I'll also run new earth in 2mm thinwall as well. Does this sound ok. Mike
  7. Hi Thanks for the reply I've seen some 30amp fused relays so will go with 2 of those one for mains and one for dipped headlights. Does anyone have any idea on wire size I thought 2mm. Electrics aren't my strong point so any advice. Thanks Mike
  8. Hi I am trying to fit headlight relays to my dolomite sprint. Does anyone know what size cable should I use? Also I was thinking 2 X 40amp 5 pin relays for for the main beam circuit as I can run a separate wire to each bulb and another 40amp 5 pin relay for the dipped headlights an again one wire to each bulb. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks Mike
  9. Thanks for the reply but I am now sorted. Mike
  10. Just a quick update and sorry for taking so long. Did the leak down test and everything came up ok except I noticed that the valve clearances were a bit tight. So readjust the valves and it now seems ok. Hope this may help someone in the future. Mike
  11. Hi Looking for a 2500s/TC air box that attaches to the carbs with flexible tube and air canister fo my 2.5 vitesse. Anyone have one for sale or know of one. Thanks Mike
  12. Thanks Rob I now have one on its way.
  13. Does anybody know what the spark plug thread is. I've been looking at the leak down testers and can only find m12 and m14 adapters and not sure if they will fit. Mike
  14. No it doesn't loose any water or use any oil. And I haven't noticed any blue some from the exhaust. How can I check if the manifold has gone porous do you take it off block up the openings and fill with water to see if it leaks or goes down. Also how do you do a leak down test Mike
  15. Thanks for the replys, test was done with open throttle. Think I'm going to have to lift the head and sort out no1 valves and check the others. Is there a way of checking for engine bore wear or broken rings while the head is off without dismantling to the pistons or are those compression figures ok. Mike
  16. Compression test cold Dry no 1/ 157psi ,no2/ 190psi, no3/ 167psi, no4/ 177psi , no5/ 190psi, no6/ 193psi. wet no1/ 162psi, no2/ 230psi, no3 /200psi, no4/ 185psi, no5 /200psi, no6/210psi Mike
  17. Hi I have just put a camera inside my 2.5 vitesse engine and have found that some of the pistons have quite a bit more Carbon than others. No1 has very little and you can see the 20 thou oversize measurement on the piston. No 2 has a lot of carbon and looks thick and wet. 3 and 5 have less and 4 and 6 are quite thick like no 2. It also has what sounds like a misfire which is worse when cold and still there when warmed up but not as noticeable. Its running on dolomite sprint su carbs and has the inlet manifold ground away on port's 3 and 5. Could the manifold be the problem. Any thoughts appreciated. Mike
  18. Hi Thanks for all the ideas pictures and advise. I think I will start experimenting with some cheep filters inside the original air filter box before going over to k&n filters. Maybe cutting them down to size if i can find the right thickness and sealing them in with silicone sealant to see how it works out like Clive has said. I will post my results with pictures if possible. Any further advise greatly appreciated. Mike
  19. Yes, that sounds doable. Do you have any pictures of your set up and any part nos for the filters inside the original box. Mike
  20. Hi Clive Thanks for your reply at the moment I have a set of dolomite sprint hs6 on my vitesse which has a vitesse manifold and air box. I am struggling to find new filters to fit in the standard air box and fit the hs6. Also I have tried the pancake filters but they are too noisy for my liking. Do you have any recommendations as to what will fit without the carb noise. Mike

    Carburettors

Hi I have a pair of stromberg cd150 carbs to fit on a 2.5s engine. Would it run OK without any problems like running to week a mixture or any pinking. What needle would you recommend. Thanks Mike
  22. Hi having a bit of trouble getting the hood to fit. It is a zip out rear window hood with no rear quarter windows which I brought from a company in may 2017. The trouble I'm having is with the rear window which seams to be curved from the bottom inwards to the top where it meets the rear hood frame. Is this normal for a zip out window hood as the last one was a fixed window and was nice and straight. Does anyone have any picture's of a zip out window hood to show me how it should look. Also it seams about an inch short across the front header rail. Could it be that it has shrunk. Any help greatly appreciated  Thanks  Mike.
  23. Hi Does anybody know where the chrome trim fits on the hood above the rear window. Is it on the seam above or below the seam in the hood. Thanks  Mike.
  24. Thanks for the info and advise hoping to have a go sometime next week. If you think of anything else I will be grateful.  Mike.

    Hood fitting

Hi  Just about to fit a new hood cover to my vitesse. I have changed the front header rail and adjusted up the frame so the glass fits on the rubbers around the windows. Does anyone have any hints, tips or instructions to fit the cover to the Frame. Also I have to fit new webbing to the frame as well. I am using some old seat belts.  Thanks in advance.  Mike
