will get you going again,or is this too late for you now !!

V V tuff luck Mike, could have been  v v much worse  though

Thanks everyone.  The rest if my crew are not really spanner monkeys plus there's a lot of damage actually, much more than zI thought St midnight in the middle of nowhere.

If we were say in Cortina I think we could have sorted it with some help from other experienced CT crews and a lump hammer for panel beating! Then got some kind of fix for the radiator and lashed it up but in the middle of nowhere, dog tired and teed off I went with the insurance option which looks like it will pay off.

My commiserations to others suffering problems and congratulations to those enjoying the event still. This and the moral support from home is brilliant and why Club Triumph is so great.

By the way, a very good friend was offering to organise a rescue operation for the car in case it was deemed nor worthy of being repatriated - cheers mate

Tempted to just load a few critical points - start, hotels etc and use maps for the rest.
    Nick

That's exactly what I have done. Plumb in the next overnight then ignore it and use the maps. Refer to the Satnav for ETA and if running late you can always then use the Satnav route.

    Thank you Nick.
It would be very difficult for me to be there early on saturday morning so I have to give up.

But can't you make Cortina from say 8pm Friday night? With all if us staying in hotels in/near Cortina you are bound to bump into us!

Meanwhile on the route, I have said it before and I say it again, I would be fine with the route being given to me at the start which would solve any of these concerns in future.

  4. 60 mile drive in the 2000 and it's good to go apart from

1Floats about a bit at the front but if new struts come through at the end of the week from Chris Witor as promised then it will be into my local garage for them to be fitted.
2 There's a bearing noise which I can't pin down. I will get the garage to investigate and hope it's not something awful 🤔

To be honest though I will just set off and see how far we get 😀

  5. Changes the plugs, painted the battery tray, re positioned the coil away from the engine block and checked the brake pads.

Took a test drive, engine smooth, overdrive fine, front suspension wallows about but parts on order. "Bearing type" noise that I can't pin down, sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not, on accelaration then not, sometimes think it's front, sometimes rear, sometimes in gearbox!

I think it goes away with more miles being driven

Menawhile, looking at buying a back up car tomorrow night

Now ordered rebuilt front struts with uprated springs and inserts from Chris Witor.

I let him know they were needed in time for the 10CR and he said someone else ordered a pair the day before and they were on the 10CR too.

Looks like we are good for suppliers 😉

Just come off the phone from Chris and it looks like I'll get the struts the week before the 10CR - GULP!

  8. Well my car is now with my local garage for them to finish the brake rebuild for me.

I am running out of time with only 8 weeks to go so I am substituting time with money 😲

Might get them to fit rebuilt front struts too.

I hope PMW is truly grateful 🤔

  9. As before, I have been unable to persuade my team mates to go for the longer route 😲

I am starting to look at routes tho and could well go off piste after Cortina to do the STELVIO, stop there for lunch and then use previous 20CR roads to reach Ulm.

Also need to think about visiting Colditz on the way through Germany on day 1
