Ha, if you think thats a storm try asking if an electric fan is necessary or whether fuel additives work😂
Is it? Do they? 😁😉
I'm going to keep my head down now . . .

Hmmm, take a magnet……
Oh yea of little faith. Mind you in the photos of the engine bay some of the pipework looks very much like copper plumbing fittings, Yorkshire Imperial with integrated solder - just heat it up and done!

Surely someone will grab it, there must be some bits that someone wants, for example the seats look to be in reasonable condition.

Only problem I’ve had was in rural France where the (probably rarely used) petrol pump was doling out a generous measure of water.
They must have run out of cheap plonk to mix with the petrol. 😃

use the car more
That is the best solution. I use E5.98 and leave whatever petrol is in the tank at the end of the season, so far no problems.

At the end of the season, October, each year I do nothing about the petrol in my 13/60. Over winter the car hardly gets used and I have not had any problems since I got it in 2015. I use E5,98.

Welcome to the forum, excellent choice of car & colour.
No time to read those books, get the car running!

I've got a new spare hex, for engine sump or gearbox, it is a 13/16". The hex currently fitted must be slightly bigger as I use a 22mm ring spanner on it, the spanner is quite short which helps dur to the tight space.
Yup, you need to get under and look at what's there.

I don't know if it is good or bad but Valeo is a French company and does still produce in France 🇨🇵

Is that thing road legal in U.K>
In one of the photos there is part of the number plate which looks to be a UK one.

My Vitesse has one of the really cheap plastic ones, fitted exactly where YS describes. It's never caused any problems.
Exactly the same on my 13/60. I change the filter when the plastic gets cloudy, I then cut it open to see if there are any bits in it.

Welcome to the minefield of new parts.
Lucas, along with other old "trusted" brand names are now just names on packaging,
Exactly that. a couple of weeks ago I ordered a new indicator lever mechanism from a supplier here in France, they made no reference to it being Lucas or anybody else. When it arrived it was in a Lucas box and marked Lucas, England" note not MADE in England. The quality however does look good, better than the cheap looking broken one it replaces, in fact I compared it to the one fitted when I bought the car, a Lucas, that was replaced by the copy about 3 years ago and was very similar. So yes, the names on the boxes are now just names used under licence or bought up by others and quality cannot be assumed based on past reputation.

It is very clear or rather cloudy, even on the UK gouv site:
Driving licences and international driving permits
You need to carry your UK driving licence with you.
You do not need an international driving permit (IDP) to visit and drive in the EU, Switzerland, Iceland or Liechtenstein.
You might need an IDP to drive in some EU countries and Norway if you have:
- a paper driving licence
- a licence that was issued in Gibraltar, Guernsey, Jersey or the Isle of Man
Personally I would just carry whatever licence and insurance papers I had. Just don't do anything that would attract the attention of the gendarmes, having said that I have had a thumbs up a couple of times from motocycle groups, they clearly appreciate a classic car.

I know what you mean. When we moved here I had to hand mine in to get a French one 😒

There is a plate on the side of the bulkhead, passenger side, that should give you the code for the paint and interior trim. Wheel colour isn't listed, I think at the time your car was built they would have been a 'white' of some type. You can get a heritage certificate that gives/confirms some information as well.
The plate in the photo is the one on my 13/60. Plus a photo to show where the plate is and if it works a copy of the heritage certificate.

Never too old to learn. Actually at my age I need to relearn the things I've forgotten. 😵

Give it a rest. I am surprised that someone hasn't tried to blame Russia invading Ukraine on Brexit!
Like it or not Brexit is the reason for changes such as this. Just as if I want to visit Britain I now need a passport as the UK no longer accepts I'd cards.
Look at the Rimmer's web site about their postal and customs terms for the EU. Massively more expensive than before Brexit.

That will hurt, but not be fatal
Broken rib or two then, OUCH!
I wonder how much of the 4" 'safety buffer' I have left on mine ? Too complicated to find out I'll just buy a St Christopher medallion.
Don't need one do I as I'm Christopher. 🤞

I'm not totally sure, as it doesn't affect me as I live in France, but I believe you do now need an international drivers permit and green card for the insurance, thanks to Br....

As the advertising boys and girls always say, "Out of a bug, you can make a feature!"
The whole "adjustment" is about four inches. Use it all up, and the collapsing feature becomes the bug, as it won't work anymore.
Are you saying that the collapsing steering safety feature is only 4"? I can't see that having been totally effective in an accident without a seat belt. With a seat belt on maybe it would have been enough.
Better than nothing, and of course a good bit of positive publicity . .

You're driving on the wrong roads in that case. 😃
In my case a traffic jam consists of 2 cars following a tractor and trailer for 1 kilometer.
There is even a town 45 minutes away where a classic car club now creates a traffic jam once a year to recreate the 60s/70s.
