  1. Turns out it was engine oil dripping down from the oil pressure gauge. Phew!
  2. Could be a bolt. The one attached to the exhaust bracket isn't in place. Will also check the seal. Really don't want to have the gearbox out again.
  3. Doing a restoration of a 1500 spitfire, I've had the engine and gearbox out but no tinkering, just new clutch. I also took out the speedo angle drive to refit cable. Started engine and major oil leak from the area of the solenoid/cable. Lost pretty much all the oil in a few seconds. I can't see where the oil comes from as it is behind the mounting plate. Could it be coming from the angle drive? Maybe I missed out a seal or something?
