  1. Thank you Baxter for your kind words. We have now driven this nice car some 200 kilometers and it runs very well on the road. It´s no problem to keep up with normal traffic rythm although it would be nice with an overdrive since the revs of course are a bit high compared to modern cars. The engine runs very well and the handling is fast and agile. There was however one problem, a rather loud whining sound from the gearbox when in second gear. We thought it was too much and removed the gearbox and took it apart for inspection. The only thing that was obvious was that the thrust washer between first and second gear was in pieces. We don´t know if this is the problem but we have ordered a new washer and a rebuild kit which will arrive next week. Let´s hope it will do the trick so we can run a few more kilometers before the winter. We will keep the car over the winter and when spring comes do many more trips and perhaps one of us will keep it. It is a very nice looking car, especially the Mk1, right Baxter?
  2. Now our MK1 is finally ready for the road. We got the swedish MOT-approval the day before yesterdeay with no problems at all. It ran very well on the road and the engine has a nice powerful sound. We will try to run it as much as possible before the winter comes. What is the value of such a car in the UK do you think? We are not sure if we are going to sell it or if one of us may keep it, we´ll see about that. Anyway, we are quite pleased with the result in the end of this rather big project.
  3. We are now almost done with our GT6 project. The MOT-test is booked for next week but we need new extended wheelstuds until then. The bodypart behind the front bumper is also missing, we haven´t got it from the paintshop yet. It´s going to be interesting to drive the car and to feel how it behaves on the road. Of course there is some adjustments that needs to be done before it runs perfect. We think it is a very nice little car that looks good in white. It was well worth rescuing from the woods.
  4. Today we fetched the main body of the GT6 from the paint shop. Now the fun part begins with the reassembly of all parts we have made ready during the winter. I will send more pictures as the work progresses. .
  5. Thank you Rich L and Baxter for your kind words. I live in the middle of Sweden and we have real winter seasons here so it´s nice to have something to do during the dark hours. Thank´s to the internet it´s easy to find the needed parts and there are plenty of companies in England who can deliver if you want new parts. The car was bought by a friend of ours about 35 years ago and he started to restore it but other things got in the way so it stalled, It has been standing in the woods the last 20 years but was surprisingly fresh and I got it cheap so I thought it was too good to be abanded. The wiper motor was missing and I haven´t found one yet, the DR3A 2-speed 130 deg, but i´ll keep looking. Thank´s again for your comments. /Gunnar
  6. Here are a few pictures of our GT6 MK1 1968 project (my brother and I).                              This is how we found it in the woods. . Now, about a year later we have completed the chassis, the engine runs beautifully and the body is at the paint shop, so it is progressing very well. We made new one piece dashboard in elm veneer. The chassis completed We expect to be finished coming spring/summer. /Gunnar
  7. Thank you Ian for your consideration but I found the right drawing and measurements for MK1 on the net. I have now sandblasted the chassi and the next step is to check it for straightness. /Gunnar
  8. Thank you very much Colin and Rob for your answers, that was very helpful. Now I can continue the work on this interesting car.
  9. I am restoring a GT6 Mark1 1968 and need a drawing of the frame with measures. Where can I find that info?
