  1. Andy No Problem, all you have to do is move to BS before the run.   Have no fear we will work out something.  Now I got to work out how to get the wife to and from Chris Allen's house as the wife's have something planned (Spend Way Too Much Money) while we are on the run.  Will be in England for about 2 weeks after the run as the friends who will be with us want to go to Cornwall, where Dr. Martin is filmed!

  2. Mike, having gone both ways, with traffic and construction seemed to take longer going anti clockwise.  Of course the construction before Heathrow is now complete.  Still (in October) some around the Potters Bar and Luton exits.  When Clive and I left Hove for the Plough for the RBRR we used the outercrossing.  However serious back up at the tunnel.  I HATE sitting in traffic!  Gerrrrrrrrrr!

  3. Thanks, Note my car is registered in the UK with UK plates.  While I could register it with US plates that would cause problems with how long the car is in the UK.  So far I have only used the crossing 3 times and could have gone the other way round the M25.  If I am correct Andy and I will not use it for the 10CR.  In the past I found it quicker and less traffic when going from Bishops Stortford to Hove.

  4. Their are many on the market.  I prefer the plastic fork type.  Once you discover witch way round they are then just slide along till you come to one and the pull right off.  Only problem is the door card becomes very week after age and some will rip or tear no matter what.  Gentle is the word here.

  5. Hogie: Are you talking about the "V's"?  Or the thin tall side trim?  Would be nice if these could be re chromed.  I was lucky a while back and found one set of NOS V's and two sets of headlight trims on EBay.

I remember someone said the repo headlight trims were shorter accross the top form original.

  6. My blue resto project now has duel SU's.  None of the cables were long enough for the choke.  Got a New cable from Rimmers. Long enough and the correct looking knob for a 1200.  However it is molded on and their is no choke decal in the center.  Anyone got a cecal for a choke? Or know where I can get one.

  7. Today's Euro is the 2nd lowest against the dollar that I have ever seen.  Today, 1.18, Best ever (that I have seen) 1.10  Pound is down also to 1.55.  Down about .35 since October.   Gas price down to just over $2 US dollar per gallon.  Down over $1.25 in the past year.  However I have not noticed the cost of anything else go down!

  8. Could have been worse.  I have seen rods go through the block, out the oil pan and push rods trough the hood er bonnet.  Any engine, gas, diesel or steam will fly apart if over rev'd with no load. Due to the laws of nature, their is a max speed for any piston. Try to excede and BOOM!

  9. If you have to put oil in the bores to get it to start, then yes most likely compression.  I am sure someone here close to you will come with a good tester.  Even a cheap one should work.  If after a good run and will not re start then I think the rings are gone.  (timing will also affect hard re start)  Ole quick method, have a friend turn engine and hold your thumb over the plug hole and you will feel compression or not.  Of course only do this with a cold engine.  And before a Yorkshireman chimes in, remove the plugs for thumb test.

  10. Does all this Yorkie stuff mean you all will be playing bumper cars all along the run?  Now you all know I love Yorkshire and have many "Haunts" their.  I thought I was a Honorary Yorkshireman!  You allways bought my BEER! Even though my mainly  operate out of Herts where my car is kept and I have never had a Yorkie team mate.

By the way Yorkie's   It is called in proper English Bumper Cars, NOT dodge'ems.

Thanks Andy for putting out the info.

  11. I understand those in charge have much to do.  Could we get a list of those who are on the list and reserve and what the cut off is.  I know some are trying to increase the list.  I hope like I who because of things out of our control could not get entry in on the first day would like to know where we stand.  The posting of who is entering does not contain all who have entered as some do not use the forum.  Thank You:  Bill

  12. I use only ones brand name, "Battery Tender"  I have used these for many years.  They come for 1 , 2 or 4 outputs.  They will not overcharge and cycle only when needed.  I do not know if they are sold overtheir.  I have a 4 bank for my 3 Heralds and the Galaxie and two one output for the Jeep and Tractor.  I know of no fire or overheating problems with these overhere.
