  1. Please post your photos on the club site, I like others do not do or use facebook.  I do enjoy looking at the picts.  I did not take many as I have so many form past runs.  In fact Tim still use's many of mine form CD's I sent him years ago.

As for picts of marshal's,  Would be nice.

Note to VR: Union?  What, now you want to be paid for doing less work?

  2. This was my 5th time at Lands End.  06 was the best food and service. 08 food good but servers walked off and refused to serve for some time. I understand those who arrived last had no food as LE ran out.  10 was GREAT as we were in a nicer place. 12 the food and service was ok but only one bathroom that was only for 1 at a time and some distance form the hall.  Sorry this year was the pitts.  No bathrooms till 8, no food till 8:30 and slow service with no cereal or toast!    I know it is almost impossible to find another place that can serve our crowd but, sorry Lands End as a whole is not worth paying for.  Except the first time I have allways got the feeling the workers at LE looked at us as a pain that they would rather not deal with and I have never (cept the first time) found them friendly or helpfull.  Lands End is what we in the states call a " I Got Ya" a place that knows you have no other choice and they treat you accordingly.

JOG has allways been a very good stop, they have their act together.

In the same vain, I heard gripes about Morrisons and the lack of pies because some were Pigs! Not a problem for my team as 2 of us don't care for them and did not have any, one of us had only one.  So we were not the ones who took more than they should have, nor did we take more than one should at Cannon Bridge.

I do not eat much on these runs as I don't like to stop to return it.  All in all the meal stops are not that important to me, if I feel the need I will snack when needed.  After all who does the run's for the food.

  3. Congrats to all the other teams that made it.  Our Team made it around with only 1 minor glitch, frozen lock on the gas filler cap.  Clive punched out the lock so all was well.  Our car (DollyRoo) has now done 3 RBRR's.  I think I was the 2nd or 3rd and the first Dolly to nab the badger.  Have not looked under the car yet, but no smell.  Like all of you this was a team effort and many thanks to Clive & Pete for all the work they did preping my car.  We had a great time and it was a great run.  Just a shame about Lands End.  I too feel ever so sorry for the few who did not make it as I know what that feels like.

I was great seeing all of you on the run, check points and others who showed up along the run.

  4. Made a few adjustments to the car including installing a new Alt as the output of the old was kinda week.  Adjusted the headlights.  Thanks BIG Time to Pete and Clive for all the time and work they put into the car.  Highlighted the map to match the road book this morning.  Packed all the spares and things we will need. All stickers on  car.  I think the car is ready.  See you all at the Plough tomorrow.   Team DollyRoo.

  5. Mechanical or Electric, it really comes down to your personal choice.  The mechanical ones work great and last for a long time. They were designed to deliver the proper amount of fuel at any RPM.  Yes they can and do fail.  Electric ones deliver a constant flow and pressure no matter what engine RPM. Modern ones are very reliable and last as long or longer than the old ones.  If you have to change a pump, electric ones depending on where they are located can be easer than mechanical ones.  As for leaking in/out  both types will leak if the hose is loose or rotted.  Unless you are racing or using your car for a special purpose than I see no advantage one over the other.  Only other advantage I see to electric is that if you car sits for long periods, fuel is pumped to the carb's faster and you might notice quicker starting.  So I vote you use your gut feeling as to what to use.

  6. As you know Team Dollyroo has had many Co-Drivers.  We have allways been great together.  One thing you learn no matter who your co-drivers are, At times things can get heated and you almost get pissed.  Just let it pass as things will work out.  Yes you will make a wrong turn, miss read the road book and the like.  Remember you and your co-driver are their to have FUN!  That's what it's all about.

  7. I have done the run with 3 and 2.  Note the Post on top of the page.  Dave Kent is looking to join a team.  No matter what give it a go.  Just remember, during the run at various times one of you will NEED SLEEP!  Take naps, don't drive tired and pull over if you feel the need as you need not rush to make it.  Their is plenty of time to make the check points, just don't waist time.

  8. Steve, I hope you are OK Mate.  After all you were a great partner on the last one.  You are a member of Team DollyRoo by default so you gotta stay well and happy.  I just know you are gonna make it this time and it will be good to see you again.   Looking forward to a BEER or 2 at the end.  Only 12 more sleeps till I leave for England.  Time fly's
