PeteW: My last post under Fitting is how I put them on. First your metal strips have to be in good shape. Then lub the rubber parts fully then slide them on using the method I described. You will have to remove at least one overrider front and back in order to slide the center sections on. I suggest for the rear you remove the right as the bolts are easy'er to get to then the left due to gas tank. Using a rubber malet can be helpfull by tapping the ends so they slide on.

Along with the above, most all failures are caused by a bad earth connection, somewhere. Be sure all earth connections are good between the body and the battery. At times like this a simple probe with light works well to help you along.

Having done this twice, I use plumbers grease and for the curve sections and start with the curve ends on the straight sections of the metal strips. The curve ends seem to flaten better than the straight ends going round the curves on the metal strip. I have also found on the two straight's front and rear they were a little too long and had to cut some off.

DollyRoo is now out of the shop all fixed and improved. My hat's off the Dale Barker for the work he did. Thanks to Darren Sharp and Peter Wenzel for shuttling her back and forth. Dolly is now back in Bishops Stortford safe and sound. I believe she is ready for the run and the miles I will put on her driving around England for the two weeks after the run. Below is the note I got from Peter. Hi Bill. Collected Dolly today from Dales (did not see him, as its Sunday). Well, there is a big improvement in her. She was always quick, but now she flies !!. Improvements to G/Box, engine running smoother, cooling (with electric fan), brakes, no rattles from exhaust, Also new tires help handling, etc etc. New seats also big up-grade. Darker brown matches rest of interior real nice. They are very good condition too. Also a big thanks to Mike Bishop for finding the seats and to Jason Chinn who stored them for a while. Just shows how good and helpfull everyone here is.

Tebay has been a great stop. Allways good to see Martin and McJim. Last time I saw McJim was at Morrisons. All that is need is the floor show that another stop had back in 08! Tim get craking on that!

Dale has begun work on DollyRoo. Don't know how much he has done yet. Maby he will post progress at some point. I am just sitting back and letting him do what he does and not pestering him. I have has some serious health issues that I will explain in a post elsewhere. I am recovering nicely and the doctors say I will be in good shape for the trip and run. All is looking good.

Of all the runs and team members I have done, Never had any problems. Spedo? only for show, never look at it. We drive by the seat of our paints.

I found using plumbers grease (clear) on the bumpers first. You can add more as you go. For the 4 curved parts start by pushing on with the curve end first on the straight runner . Having done this twice is what works best for me. The plumbers grease is easy to wipe off when done.

You will want to read the section under events. Look up and read the articles in the past year's Club Torque magazine. Read the all the post's in this section. Attend a local meet and get to know the members. While the entry is now full you can keep checking to see if any team would like to take on one more with them. It can be hard if no one knows you. Have to consider your driving habbits, insurance and willingness to let you drive their car. And of course the entry and share all costs. Hope this helps.

Will a Spitfire tank fit with little or no problem? I know a fuel filler hole would have to be cut. What is the best way to secure the tank to the car? How may gallons does the Spit tank hold? To be real I would like to find 2 very good Vitesse tanks here in the states.

The one I got for my Blue Herald that is the same sold by Moss and Rimmers, came with the temp capillary cable attached but no oil line. Oil lines can be found at any good auto parts supply. I did order a fitting for the temp sender where it goes into the upper block outlet (where the top radiator hose attaches). On some engines the waterpump housing will have a place where the stock fitting will work. I got the special fitting from someone that Herald948 sent me a link to.

Fantastic offer Sheepy. I hope no one has to take up on it. Again this is a GREAT club! Some might remember when I lost the windscreen a club member brought me a replacement at Roloc. If you have a show at your house, be sure to charge a Yorkshireman doubble.

Vote Needed: I vote for Mike to pay for all food and drink on all ferry's. As a Yorkshireman, we all know he has more money then he can ever spend. Yes he is tighter than a Scott! Bout time he spends a penny. The vote will be counted and binding.

Yea, like you all can drink BEER! If i get their first might be like the last run where the hotel ran out before the rest of you got their. Andy is booking us on the 12 noon ferry.
