  1. and, and......sleep in the Spitfire with open top, using the radiator as a hot water bottle!
  2. I used to go to the office with top down through winter, knock the ice off my woolly hat brim, dry it out and then repeat on the way home😳
  3. 1980 TR-V8 97K/GRINNAL CONVERSION. KENT HIGH-LIFT CAM NO RUST/ 5 OWNERS NEW - RIMMERS 4 POT CALLIPERS/RADIAROR & ELECTRIC FAN CLUTCH MASTER & SLAVE CYLINDERS/BATTERY/ROOF. TWIN S/S EXHAUSTS/UNDERSEALED. £9750 . (Portsmouth) (07816) 654 906/(07906) 150 923
  4. I had a very, very similar problem with mine years ago. Found out by accident that one of the needles was lose(held in by grub screw) and had dropped, giving the same results. Re sat the needle and was as right as rain.
  5. The colonials are not due this year.....2026
  6. I had Toyos on the Spitfire....had to take them off as the car used to wander. Always used Yoko`s A539......fantastic tyre.....just this minute come from my mates tyre shop, Cant get any till end of September. He says that some types/sizes are getting hard to get hold of, specifically 13"
  7. Once again the Pendle and Pennine gang put together another excellent weekend of driving fun and enjoyment for all the Border Raider entrants. It was quite a sentimental evening in The Tinto for me as we had been talking to some of the P and P members who were quite friendly with Martin `Raider `Randle ,(including myself) and were reminiscing over some of the original events that included Burner Boy ,Darbyshire and Andy Flexney and co. and having ten P and P members on the run. This year the event was one of the best, but made me wish I had taken up pot holing and scuba diving instead of driving old cars. Hope every one enjoyed the event.
  8. Thanks, but I wasn`t saying I couldn`t search and find anything.......the comment being most sellers are saying/quoting "6mm ...(1/4,)" which is incorrect, and wish they wouldnt do so. I will try your reccommendation
  9. When will sellers realise that 6mm bore is not 1/4" ? Our cars are and always will be imperial. There is always a difficulty in fitting 6mm bore as the fuel fixings are 1/4" and larger in diameter, not by much ,but enough. Tried using 6mm and it splits(with the modern rubbers). Going on Tebay..they advertise 1/4" with a 6mm in brackets......its either 1/4 or 6mm.....cant be both
  10. The Border Raiders..... at the final meeting during the week, we reflected on how the event originated and how Martin Randle would have been proud on how the event has expanded into a very popular weekend of fun driving and socialising. Pendle and Pennine area began running this ,with Martin ,the AO, organiser and figure head along with others as a fun run held on one day. Then the one day became two with overnight hotels and the entrants list increased from six or seven cars to the current forty !Thanks go to Chris Reynolds (and assistants) in keeping and expanding this popular event running . Not long now to the start of 2024.

  12. Final wrap -up meeting last night for 2024 run......with the final words...'better start planning for 2025'😮
  13. If interested we at least 2 cars are in the B and B Hotel St Etienne Rouvray ,Rouen
  14. Making the buyers of the VLs ,over recent times, aware of that problem should prompt those buyers to just check what they have fitted, just to be sure they don't have any faulty ones. If the poor links manufacture has now been corrected, then that should help.If we had purchased any in that time we certainly would, dis assemble and check but had the sense to buy Canley' s trunnion less, for piece of mind
