  1. If you get your car back and still have the problem, check for a vacum leak.  If you don't have a guage you can try spraying a little cab cleaner around anywhere a leak could be.  If engine speeds up you found it.
  2. Tim: You know the invite has been their for some time.  We will find a cheep hotel/motel if the club comes over.   A US run?  Their is a ABRR you know.
  3. On my tractor and 5 classics I use a unit called "Battery Tender". I do not know if this brand is sold outside of the US and Canada.  they come single, 2 or 4 banks.  Nice trickle tender with sensors that stop when battery is fully charged and then monitor charging only when needed.  They will not overcharge a battery.  My 46 Jeep is kept on one almost the entire year.  Never had a battery fail or explode when using these.  Most important is that any you choose will not over charge and will shut down when not needed.
  4. I am no expert.  When I put the door glass in my resto project, I found if I tilted the vent frame forward at the top and then put the inner weather strip in first, then put the outer on about 1/2 way from the front, the glass would angle in.  Then you have room the clip the rest of the outer weatherstrip on.  Worst part is getting the two metal channels on the bottom of the glass passed the weatherstrip.  2ed hardest is putting the two little round retainers on the arms inside the door.  If you understand this I hope it helps.  Assume their is a better way. In your case I would take the outer weather strip about 1/2 way off from the rear. If needed the clips and tool are easy to get from most vendors.

  6. One reason I never use the glass to close the door instead use the handle or solid part of the door.

  8. This is not as uncommon as some would think.  As Bill said any week spot, chip or small crack can cause this. Most often it's the outside temp.  Very cold glass can become brittle (older more so) and the shock of closing will cause this. Add all of this, if window is hard to roll up and is binding in the tracks. If the rear of the window was slightly tilted inward, striking the B post could have put just enough pressure to bend the glass.  Pict shows most of the missing glass is at the top rear. In your case I would take the outer weather strip off about 1/2 way.  The clips if needed to put back are easy to obtain. Broken Glass, I am still finding small bits of broken glass everywhere in my Dolly form the windshield misshap on the 09 10CR.

  10. I did it for the first time in 06.  Had met Ashley Mills At Stafford the year before.  Ash invited me along and then I was hooked.  I bought my Dolomite just to do the run.  All of this led to next three runs, 3 10CR's and now  the cars 3rd (my 5th) RBRR.  I ran the last RBRR with Steve Povy in his Vitesse.  I only met Steve a few days before the run.  I keep coming back as said above because of all of you and many Great Friendships that I have made.   Below you see a list of my team mates over the years and this year will add Clive Senior.  I visit most all of them every visit to England.  I have met so many fantastic people from this run and that is why I keep coming back.  Their are too many to thank or blame for my involvement.  It now looks like Peter Fern will also join the team again.
  11. I guess it is possible for a Yorks_ireman to spell words with out a "H" in them.
  12. Now that I have been to the Blye Service Center in the daylight, I now know where the bathrooms are and are NOT!  Don't wait till you fill up!
  13. I like others really missed Pimperne the last time.  For those who have not done a RBRR you gonna love this stop! What? No Blye?
  14. Cook1e, Toledo Man:  You are within the guidelines.  It is OK to mention as long as you don't make it into a add with full details and a price.  You might add for anyone thinking on it to PM you for details and price. Bill Goodwin: Moderator
  15. Hogie:  Sorry the hear the news.  As said health comes First.  Hope all works out.  Don't worry about the run as their is still plenty of time.  If you or anyone needs a co driver or want's to be one I am sure something will work out even at the last moment. After all the RBRR is the one run where, No Man Is Left Behind. Or at least not after the start.
  16. Green, my second favorite Color.  I think you will find a Dolly is a Great car for the RBRR and the 10CR.  Ask me how I know.
  17. I have Pertronix in two of my Heralds and have had no issues so far.  I will put one in the Herald I am restoring before it is done.  I also use a matching coil as I feel they work better as a unit.  I do keep a extra set of points/condenser in the glove box just in case.

    front valance

I got a new repo ft valance a few years back.  I think I got it from rarebits.  It was well made and fit with only some minor filing where the uprights go.  The rubber bumper tracks were not attached but, the tracks came if one wanted to weld them on.  I think they were very affordable as they were also shipped to the states.
  19. Just cause I keep going round and round and round and round a roundabout never knowing what exit to take, does Not, does Not, does Not, make me Loopy!
  20. I am sure Tim will chime in here sometime. NO! regs say you can't do it alone!   I put a sticky thread up for anyone looking for a co driver or for one who want's to join a team.  Toss your name out and see what happens.  Last time I responded to a last min post from someone who at the last min needed a co driver.  Never met him before nor had any idea who he was.  We met for the first time on Wednesday before the run, All went well and we got along great, and now we be good mates.  Only problem was the car, it broke in Cornwall.   Ask Regie Barton, they run a 6 man team with 3 cars and rotate during the run.  I have done this with 3 and 2, I prefer a crew of 3.  All will go great as long as you don't argue over money, don't get upset or nitpick about their driving, never get upset if you miss a turn or get lost.   Golden Rule: Never sweat the petty things Never pet the sweaty thngs
  21. Entry # 25, Team DollyRoo.  My Dolly has finished 2 RBRR's 08 & 10 and the last 3 10CR's.  This will be my 5th RBRR.  Plan is for Clive Senior (Cliffyhanger) as co-driver and a open space for a 3rd.   DollyRoo's 2L TR7 engine.   NO, above is NOT a picture of my car after Ferny drove it!
  22. My car has a 4 speed with overdrive, since I don't know if a Dolly trans will mate up with a TR7 engine or the orignal Dolly trans is used.  The engine and trans tilt a little so they will fit.  Thanks guys.
