  1. I loaned mine to a mate (his broke) to finish the last RBRR.  Did he thank me NO!  Complained mine allways said "Roundabout"   I like the voice on Reggie Barton's,  It yelled and cussed at him when they made a wrong turn!
  2. DollyRoo is 99% ready.  Much work done by Ashley and our mate Carl.   The car returns to Bishops Stortford next week to be put back where I store her waiting for my arrival.(Sept 2nd)  Passed MOT without Issue.   Entry # 11 Team DollyRoo:  Me, Ashley Mills and Gary Lacy
  3. I hate to inform you but, we all know about the meeting on Tuesday!  I don't think I will make the meet unless someone gives me a ride form Bishops Stortford and back.  I don't drink and drive.
  4. I have only seen this sign in Europe.  Anyone here know what is means?  My first thought was a Coffin in the road.   Or your chances of needing a Coffin so great they show you where to find one?
  5. When we lost our windscreen last time, Out came the spares list with phone number, Dale had the Triumph Temp Windscreen!  Called and he waited for us to catch up with him.  Less the 10mins we were on our way.  The visibility wasn't great, but it worked and kept us wind free and dry.  I hope to have it with us again just in case.   I highly recommend extra fuse's at least for your cig lighter, Sat/Nav, phone charger and the like.  I insist we carry them.
  6. Ellis: You have a confirmation PM.  Gary Lacy will make the Plough, T shirt is Med. Others who make the meeting at the Plough,  The newest DollyRoo team member is Gary Lacy.  He did the RBRR with Ashley and Carol.  I am sure he does not know many of you.  I know I don't have to ask, Please say hi to him and make him feel welcome.  Don't hold it against him for his team mates.  (Jason: DON'T kick or smack him!) Reggie: You may bring my Fleese and give it to him or wait till the run.   Thank You All: Bill
  7. Hi Ellis: Team 11 has sent you a PM.  Opps thought we were #10
  8. I'm with you Andy, I have never seen (but haven't look for) Bronze here in the states.
  9. I am glad Bill added that.   If nothing else be sure to chase the threads if you go to brass.
  10. minor point, I allways use Brass nuts as they normally do not size to the stud.
  11. By the way Pat was insured by Hagerty when he brought his GT6 over for the 10 RBRR.    I am also on Ashley Mills insurance for his Acclaim, and it only cost about 10 pounds when he added me in O6.
  12. Hummmm, I just might look around to see if I can spend less.  As some here know I had to use Hagerty once. Last 10CR for windscreen replacement.  They let me choose who I wanted, and even repaid me for the temp plexiglass we had installed in Switzerland. NOW back to topic, Anyone able to help my fellow countrymen?
  13. Your system is very different than ours.  Here in Maryland you could register a car in your name as long as you had a valid Maryland address to receive renewal and the like. (example you could use mine) Not sure who would insure you, insurance is a must to obtain reg plates.  our plates belong the the owner not the car and can be transfered when you buy and new car.   As for England, my Dolomite does not have my name on the V5.  However Hagerty knows I am the real owner.  No problem with Hagerty.  Our proof of ownership is also quite different than yours.  Then each of the 50 states have different rules.  Now what is legal in England, I do no know?  If push came to shove i could register the Dolomite here and send the reg plates over to be put on the car.  Hagerty would be ok with that also.  Of course I do not know how long England would allow me the keep the car in country with US tags.  Only benefit to me, NO MOT or TAX disk needed ever.  Maryland unlike some states has no MOT unless the car changes owners or is stoped for a violation.  Our tags have to be renewed every 2 years and a new little sticker is placed on the rear tag.   As for insurance just for the run, I would assume some would charge the same or more than a full year.  You insurance guru's would know? Now if any of you want to bring a car over and leave it for a while, I can work that out with you so their would be no problems as long as you had insurance.  Sorry I just don't have the room to store it inside.  One reason I sold the Land Rover.
  14. Before some asks, I have been in contact with Joe.  I use Hagerty and my car has allways been kept in England.  Now that price has been brought up, how much should one pay (per year) for a 72 Dolomite 1850 with a 2L engine?  I have complete England and Europe brakedown coverage.  The price Joe was quoted is about what I pay per year. (Never had that 1,000pound part)  I do have a high agreed value on the car. ( I also use Hagerty for all my classics here)   I can also add or delete drivers with no cost up to six total.  Here drivers have to be 25, their have to be 29?   The other thing I like about Hagerty is that the know what the RBRR and 10CR are and have no problem with entry.   I also told Joe to check with other American Classics Companys to see if they will insure us overtheir.
  15. If in the US, their is a guy in Texas that sells conversions for a number of cars.   A good friend and I used him for a complete kit to put a GM350 in a JagXJ6.  He has all the chips for how you want to use the car also.  You get complete instructions, problems you might run into and what will not mate up.
  16. Thanks Andy, my copy was in todays mail and I will get to look at it tomorrow.
  17. Sorry Tim. I am sure we are all thankfull for your work.   While I know Steve and I got a endurance award, I would still like to see a list of who and what cars got any others?   I do not mean the finishers awards.   Can't wait to see just what ours looks like, but Steve will have it in September and we will have our pictures taken with it.
  18. Lambirni, Shambrini, Real Men, drink is BEER!   Not some silly hourse xtract.
  19. I think you problem is most likely, crud, rust, dirt or just plan old fluid.   Look close at the caliper cyl. Is it rough, pitted of less then shiney?  Black spots?  Then check the same on the piston.   If piston then I suggest a re build kit.   If it the cyl then a quick run through with a hone.  No hone?  Use fine grit emery cloth.  All you want is to take the glase off.
  20. On a side note:  Herald tanks with the reserve,  if you use one of the systems that come with a cleaner and sealer, be careful.  The sealer might seal the inside so the reserve will not empty into the main tank.   I found once on a Jeep, that it sealed the filter screen inside the tank!  I have also had good luck using kerosene, just be sure to rinse with gasoline after.
  21. Rubberhead: Yours is a very nice car.  Green Vitesse:  Can't say about England but, overhere one almost never re coups the investment cost of restoring any car.   Although I have owned 4 Herald 1200's I admit I like the front clip of the 13/60 much better.   I would love to have a Vitesse for the extra power.  I like the MKII more only due to the front clip.   My perfect car would be a MKII with a 13/60 front clip.  Just like the single headlight and chrome trim better than the painted.   If the above car is a nice as it looks and had overdrive, lower price I might be temped.  As for LHD/RHD inside parts, it might have been the best he could find.  I don't mind some changes as long as the car can be put right if one wants.  A good Vitesse (Sports 6) is almost imposable to find overhere.  As for wheels, we all have our own taste, like WhiteWall tires. Jason: if you read this-DON'T say it!
