  1. Shoot Me If You Must but, Ashley Mills Acclaim has done 4 RBRR's that I know of, one with me and its on the third time around on its clock.  He use's it for his daily driver.  We spent the weekend after the RBRR in it with no problems.  As hard as I tried I could not brake it!   It just goes and goes.  Not bad for a ex-panda car he bought for 25 pounds.   I will be happy to sell it the highest bidder when Ash is not looking.   Who knows one day it might kick off its wheels and die. Yes the Hill's did change cars in 08. My Dolomite has done 2 RBRR's and 2 10CR's and finished. How many Dollys have not made it? This time I was in a Vitesse, Lost wheel and did not finish.  How many have not made it?
  2. A big Thanks to those who took me out to dinner last night.   THANKS AGAIN everyone.
  3. Yes it was Steve Povey and I who suffered axle fail just past Lands End.  Ever so sorry for Steve as this was his first time.  While I understand the car suffered some extra damage the important thing is we were not hurt.  Thanks to everyone who stoped and the team in the 3 2000's who gave me a lift back to the Plough.   Steve was a GREAT team mate and all was going well till the BIG BANG.

  5. Congratulations to all those who finished.  Ever so sorry for those who did not finish but A good show and run for all.
  6. Pete: I hope you enter the POI's for the correct side of the motorways! This time.   ERRRRRRRR! Have a good run, see you Friday.   Andy: Thanks for the reply, but I did not see the road book till yesterday.
  7. Long and shot of it.   Even though you by passed the meter, you are still using the Amps that the fog lights require.  Those Amps need to come form somewhere.  Hence the battery as your Gen or Alt can only put out so many amps.   Since you are takeing from the battery your chargeing system needs to get them back.   This is normal unless you have a high out put gen or alt.   As long as you do not read a discharge on your amp meter you should be OK.  I would suggest that before you shut the car off you turn off the fog light and let your system have a chance to full charge your battery.   Only reason for a relay is not to overload your wireing that will get hot and cause a fire.   This is a simple explanation.   Like: Ever notice when you first turn on your lights your amp meter will read hi or low for a few moments.
  8. Now that I am in and will run, Here's looking forward to a good time with a New Good Mate!   My Personal Desire, Everyone has fantastic SAFE run.   Oh, and NO SHEEP hunting!
  9. Heed the words of Ferny!  Drive you car at night and in the rain if possible.  The MOT tester said my lights were adjusted correct but!   No Way No How!   Peter and I drove it in a dense fog and rain and we KNOW where they are aimed!   Dollyroo has been checked again and again passed it's MOT for this year and the lights still don't show the road ahead.  However you wont miss any Hedge Hogs!
  10. aarOsc,  Sorry to see you drop'd out.  The RBRR is much fun.   Shame the way insurance works over their.  Here it would be no problem.   In 2010 I was able to get Ferny on my insurance even though he was under the age my company accepts.  However my company knew of the event and who Peter was.  They made a weekend only exception and I could add him to the team.   You might try talking to your company as most know of the RBRR.   Of course you don't tell them they will most likely not know and if nothing goes wrong then all is well.   Since I am not running I would make you a offer (I would hate to see anyone drop out due to lack of a Co-Driver) but their is no way I could add you to my insurance, or me to yours)   I know some will differ but I think at least for the first time a crew of three is better.   Hope you find a ride.   The real shame here is that we need more young people so the club and the events live on.
  11. Anyone passing Bishops Stortford early Friday morning on their way to the Plough?  I would like to hitch a ride but need to be at the Plough before 11:30 AM.   I will be in Foley Park just a few mins off the M11.  No I am not in the running but will marshal the start.   Peter Wenzel is coming later and this will mean we will only have one car at the Plough.   Thanks:  Bill
  12. I had at one time wanted to buy the "Stretch" worked out a price and then went to look at it.  Down side was that my wife was with me and after one look she said "NO".   I know the car sold but I understand it was returned and Dave wanted no more mention of it.   No sure if it's still around or what the final outcome was.  It would be nice to see it on the road again.  Maybe this time someone will not, run it into a field or try to remove a entire gas pump island!   Yes Jason you know who you are. Going back in time I wish I had the space to keep it and the time and money to finish it.  I would have liked someone or even the TSSC take it and display it.  Shame their was no interest.
  13. Skiach, I think is the real early morning stop in Scotland.  I have allready volunteered to go their and then on to Cannon Bridge for the lunch stop.  I will be free to go anywhere on the run including more than one stop.   Have not heard from Tim if and where he might use me.  I can meet up with anyone anywhere to form the needed team.  While not entered this time I do want to see you-all.
  14. I beleive all things the same, electronic ignition is better.  Debate here is mostly personal like using silicone brake fluid.   Good/bad points (pun) on both sides. Elctronic units can and do go bad.  If they quit then you must replace to make car run.  Some carry a extra in the car. Points as we all know can and do quit.  Most times you can make the car run to get home.  Most also cary spare in the car. Points and or electronic will not cure other problems.  Two of my Heralds have electronic and I will also install electronic in the Herald I am restoring.
  15. I don't know yet if Tim is gonna use me or not.  I think the Marshell's haveing spares is a good idea.  However the check points are only open for a limited time and with so many arriveing, two marshell's to do the check and signing of books their is little time for one to go to car and get parts.  If one calls ahead then the marshell's can have the parts at the table.   I would be glad to stock DollyRoo with parts but someone would have to supply them.  I can tell all that haveing a parts list can mean if you finish or not.  Cell numbers for each car can also be handy as the time we were following a Herald with doddgy tail lights, we called and got car fixed.  I hope all the new runners sumit any parts they will have and their cell number.

  21.
