  1. I have decided to change trunnions as they are full of grease, and I know no history about them,
  2. I've checked for movement and it virtually undetectable, a very slight hardly noticeable movement, so am I right in thinking this is ok.
  3. Is there a fall proof way of checking trunnions on a 1978 spitfire, ie checking for movement, I've had my spitfire for two months, and am inclined to just replace them regardless of condition then I know these are ok, or else i'am tempted to check for movement, and if there is none fill with ep90

    Trunnions

Do u have to remove rear brake hub to replace rear Trunnions, or can they be replaced with disturbing brake hub
  6. Hi, Only activly joined this forum recently, I know that you drive through ten countries, but exactly what is this all about, and if i'am intrested is it to late to take part???
  7. Drofgum, I took the car for a 2 mile drive to settle it down, In all honesty it was the side which leans out at the top which was hardest to fit, I'll look at this side first
  8. Would the trunnions fault be with the wheel that's straight or the one leaning out at the top slightly
  9. I've put a new leaf spring and shocks on my 1500 spitfire,, the off side wheel is sitting straight, the Nr side wheel slightly leans out at the top now, Ideas please.
  10. Regular indicators are working fine now fan belt tightened,
  11. Hi wimpus, I have a 1978 model
  12. Can anyone tell me where to find the hazard light relay, my indicators work a bit slow but they work, but hazards don't,
  13. Ended up using my young lad, he got a bit bored in the end of constantly going up, down etc, I had intended using my self bleed pressure system, but there is not a 60mm cap in kit to fit onto reserviour
  14. What sequence would you bleed the brakes on the spitfire,  I did mine, starting with the furthest wheel away first, would this be correct, ie Nr side rear, offside rear, nr side front, offside front
  15. What sequence would you bleed the brakes on the spitfire,  I did mine, starting with the furthest wheel away first, would this be correct, ie Nr side rear, offside rear, nr side front, offside front
  16. Thanks for all your help, spring now ready to go back in.
  17. I've removed my hold spring and removed the clamp fom it that bolts to diff, on the new spring it doesn't have the plate inserted in spring and I can't see how you would put it in there, also am I right in thinking that you remove the clamp that's in the middle of the new spring to fit the clamp that goes to diff minus the bottom plate
  18. Is there meant to be a adjustable steering stop nut, to stop you turning wheels to much either direction, on my spit 1500, I can turn wheel so much it's virtully impossible to drive car as wheels are at such an angle
  19. How do you tighten up front wheel bearing, I've taken wheel off, and there seems to be a metal cap in centre of wheel, does this come off, I know  on landrovers it comes off for access, but is it the same on spitfires, I've carefully tried to prise it off with no success, but is it meant too.
