    boot trim clips

I found a slim bolt that slotted in the trim and used that. Worked a treat. However - how on earth do you get all the plastic push fit fasteners pushed in!!!! J

    Carbs/running

ITS RUNNING AT LAST - many thanks to Eamonn for a pair of carbs! Dont know what was wrong with the existing ones tho. New ones have a small pipe on one float chamber - what does it do please? Just blocked it off. Need wipers - are any original fit ones available? :-)

Smithy - thanks for the link - will check accelerator pump measurement next. I was very upset by your banter lol, but then until U have actually tried the best Triumph made (after I sold the first, I missed it so much had to get another) you dont know what U are missing!!! Well when it actually goes anyway......... You are welcome to visit chippenham and claim the prize - hear and see at first hand black smoke too. J

    Carbs/running

Hi Smithy, Thx for your input (although I have plenty of matches ta). Thats what I thought, but what else can be done or what is wrong to create such a rich mixture? Was thinking of a liquid prize consumed pref. in my garage while either putting things right or waiting for the fire brigade!!! See if I get any more answers yet tho. BTW the needles, should they be fixed firmly or like mine, held but are wobbly!!!!! Regards all, J

    Carbs/running

Here is a riddle. Used petrol staight from a can (so it is new). Now when I remove the pipe so that the engine runs out of petrol it speeds up and for a few secs runs really well until it runs dry. So what does this indicate please? Prize for the best answer!!!!!!!!!! Have checked/adjusted float levels but still is very chuggy.

    Carbs/running

Thank you M'stone! Yesterday took floats off and blew through with air. Cleaned all and checked when reassembled that no air came through when floats held upside down. Only excessive air pressure came through. Thanks for tech stuff on carbs - wading through it now!! i am assuming wear is not an issue, its only done 26,000. So frustrating - I want to get the brakes gone over and then put in for an mot - body condition so rot free!!!! J

    Carbs/running

Just a little ques? Is it possible to siphon all the fuel out of the tank please? Rather frustrating - still  rally black smoke. Any more ideas? J

    Carbs/running

Tried that now. Still puffs out lots of sooty black smoke and runs as if the choke is out. Are there any carbs about for sale?? Cant think of anything else. Altered timing too. The exhaust makes eyes run - although I thought I had siphoned all the old fuel out would a tiny bit left mess things up so? How do you check the electrnic module? If anyone is around Chippenham anywhen let me know!!!!!!!

    Carbs/running

Managed to get it ticking over by weakening mixture - plugs still sooty black and  black exhaust. Choke butterflies working. What else can give over rich mixture - am stumped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Carbs/running

Frustrated!!!!  Drained tank to best of my ability. New fuel filter. New plugs, cap and leads inc. one to coil. (Have not found rotor arm replacement) Took carbs off again and cleaned and reset. Fires up instantly (no choke needed, is this a clue?) but wont run smoothly or idle although it did once for a few mins. Be glad of any more ideas please!!! John
