    Axle clunk

Its only recently been poly-bushed. It does have thin small diameter washers. I will at it's next service have these changed over for large thicker washers under the bolt head and nut. Do I need to repeat this process on the upper links? Thanks for the advice  :)

Like a repair washer you mean? do have the dimensions? I'm sure I read this on another thread somewhere. Apparently the trailing arm mounting holes can also enlarge over time requiring a repair. Mine were checked and are OK though.

So once up on lift it turns out there is a fair amount of play from the motion of the (new) prop shaft and take up of the half shafts so whatever internal workings are between those components would seem to have some wear. Additionally, the gear box gives a lovely 'slap' when going into fifth. Question, is it worth a diff rebuild (Rimmers have new CWPs but not sure if they are remanufactured jobs) or live with it and wait for something to drop off? :-/

TR7V8 Any clues to this on... Engaging and disengaging the clutch or feathering the throttle with the clutch out results in a clunking sound from underneath. It sounds as if the back might drop off if I 'kangeroo' the car. I can avoid the noise by changing gear very carefully and releasing the clutch smoothly. It happens with gentle acceleration or hard. It seems the sound is generated most by the rapid lifting of the clutch peddle. With the car in gear I can rotate the prop shaft by hand about an eighth of an inch in either direction. This doesn't feel enough to create the clonking I can hear but could be the cause. Perhaps my gearbox mount has collapsed again (only replaced last year)? My exhaust is well clear of anything it might touch. All bushing has been replaced with poly units as well. I'm sure this has been discussed on here before but my search didn't show anything up.  :-/ Cheers
  5. Team 65 James Mitchell/Paul Humphrey First time participants. Looking forward to it.
  6. Thanks Tim for the clarification. It looks amazing. Hope to see you all in 2014. :)
  7. I posted my entry on Monday 18th. I didn't realise that places filled up so quickly. Why is there a limit to the number of entrants? Is it dictated by the spaces available in the Pub Car Park or are there laws in place limiting the size of club rallies? Fingers crossed.
  8. thanks for that, I've found a supplier. Now to get the rivet gun out!!
  9. Theo The Edrose is completed and the result is good. I have addded a strip of 3mm gasket rubber under (and slightly rearward) of the leading edge to form a better seal. We shall see. I am now in the process of restoring the heater unit. On your blog you talk of a closed cell foam that you used to replace the seals at the front/rear and on the flaps. What thickness of foam did you use? who supplied it? Any advice welcome.
  10. Mine has been retrimmed quite poorly. The vinyl has stretched and isn't bonded to the cross-members hence it bulges into a dome at anything above 5 mph and sags when stationary. Finding a good second hand one is impossible. I have found a reputable company in London that retrims Webasto roofs in something called Everflex which sounds promising. Anyone had a positive experience getting their Edrose retrimmed?
