if you piece together the previous runs 2003 to 2011 it should not be much of a surprise.

Ferny,
the TR6 was also on carbs, the engine only produced about 100 BHP and is not a lot of fun to drive.
I have heard stories of a TR5 in California apparently it is the one Triumph sent across for all the testing and after it failed they never bothered bringing it back. I think it was then imported privately therefore was not subject to the same testing.
Can anyone put any light on this?

Always put them on the TR3 before going on ski holiday. Would never have got there without them.
They also give a comforting feeling when driving up a snow covered Gardena Pass

Oil pressure i.e. warn pump
You could test or have tested the oil pressure but that is not easy without the right equipement. I would simply replace the pump as a precaution. You can do it without taking it out of the car through the drain plug.
