  1. "Just put standard in first and then check for play, if you can feel play you can test the end float with a feeler gauge."

Well done Wim, can't do it any other way. Takes a bit of time having to order standard washers first and then ordering oversize once you know how many thou is needed.

  2. I have MX5 seats in my GT6 Mk111 and you do have to tinker a bit to make them fit (forget about the speakers in the headrest - once underway the sound is lost). I'm 6' and have no problems with clearance at all. Very, very comfortable and tilt forward for rear access. They're cheap as well, advice on fitting is on the internet. These are the ones I have fitted and seem very good value.

  3. Just fitted a kit of new rubbers to this. The kit came with a dust cover that slips over the end of the master cylinder. My manual doesn't show this dust cover and I can't see how either end of the connecting rod can slip over the small hole of the dust cover. The dust cover I took off had a split around the hole so I wonder if that should have been fitted in the first place.

My question is: does the rubber boot act as a dust cover and should I just discard the one sent in the kit?

  4. Its the clutch one. I had a spillage of fluid here and have just cleaned it all up and painted the damage. Cylinders are both back on but there is very little room to fit the rubber dust covers; the ones that go over the clevis pins.

Is there a magic way of doing this?

  5. Andy Flexney sent out an email a week or so ago but it seems not many people got it. Andy looks at these posts so should pick this up and send you an email. Basically its Cortina on Friday night and Ulm on Saturday night Sunday is already booked for you at Rolduc. That leaves Weds night at Aachen, unless you have made other arrangements for getting to the start.

When I choose a hotel I always use location (centre of town), price, and whether there are two single beds...not when travelling with the Mrs...when I demand two rooms! Done all mine vis Booking.com.

  6. Seems to me that we will have a large contingent of Triumph crews in Aachen the night before 'kick off'. I've been there once before but only for a couple of hours in the evening but does anyone else know the city? Be nice to meet up, have a couple of beers and break some bread together.

  7. What was it running like before? If it was fine then perhaps I'd just change the oils, filters, flush the cooling system and perhaps a rebuild kit for the carbs. Petrol tank and lines might need attention.

If you take the head off you will refurbish it, then you will peer down the bores...new rings...advice on here is to get the bores honed for new rings...might as well get new pistons and a rebore, while the crank is off.....you get the picture.

Not broke then don't fix it!???
