Does anyone know if it possible to buy pistons singularly been looking online bu seems to be sets. pistons look ok bu 1 strangly has a dent on the bottom edge? also would this cause any problems

yes the gasket is correct thanks put original valves back into original head, and put on the replacement block, stiil clouds of smoke, can only assume som problem with the short engine block, plan to rebuild original unit that came out, hindsight is a wonderful thing ! ANyone recommend a machine shop in the Edinburgh/Lothian area ?

think it will be staying in the garage for another year :'(

trying to upload photos but keeps saying theyre too big ,ehaust ports are we with oil, inlet valve seem ok outlet valves are greasy and sticky

Further to my earlier post about no compression the smoky engine head is off again. The port is thick with oil .what is going on here and what to do next

thinking more about the smoke coming out of the exhaust , its making the inside of the tailpipe black and kind of sticky, however whenyou put your hand there it it clean .i.e. not black dots, very confused anyone had this before? ??)

UPDATE fot today, last night ran car from new fuel via can, result still the same very smokey blue/white :'( :'( :'( as put the valves from the replacement engine into the original head think it  might be that although not sure ! think it will have to resort to putting priginal lump back in althought that wasnt too good it didnt smoke .Stiil doesnt solve what is wrong with this one though  :(

no it been in garage bu cap has been oof as wee respray going on so if anything has gone in would be by accident i guess

great advice guys really hope its a fuel issue ,compression test was ok for all cylinders slightly lower in no 1 , thought initially that lead replacement that was put in had mistakingly been 2 stroke but different bottle shape so dont think thats what happened Car has not beento fuel pump just filled from can, willl check it out
