  1. The changes were made to the original system in an effort to prepare the car for other types of driving beside back and forth to work. I wanted to provide a compensation for issues with heat and this car that I have read and heard about and experienced with a 64 spit and a 68 gt6 I have previously owned. Research led me to understand that the fiero rad, the one I have in this car, was also a viable replacement like the Peugeot and the Golf  rad. When I got the rad, I knew I was going to have trouble, but I decided to take it as a challenge and see if I couldn't resolve some of the issues the position creates through more efficient capture of the air. The shrouds are right next to the side tanks on the radiator, and the top hump matches with the underside of the hood. With the addition of a bleeder valve I hope to make my unnecessary changes to the original design a little more worth while ;). Cheers, James
  2. Bought it as a non-runner in 2009, went to Africa for 5 months, came back, started it once, and began a frame off rebuild, so I don't know how it performed before. 3. junkuser wrote:How do you make sure the system is actually full of coolant James? There does not seem to be a filler or bleed at the highest point in the system. Are you sure there is no air trapped in the upper part of the system preventing circulation? The circulation is assisted thermosyphon by design, the pump is to assist but the thermosyphon is still an important part, especially after shut down and trapped air could stop this if down to a sufficient level. Just a thought. I'm installing a bleeder in one of the lines coming from the expansion tank (mounted on the firewall shelf) at the highest point on the engine in the next few days. James
  4. It is canted at a rearward angle. there is a 10" puller behind it, along with the fan on the crank. Took it out for a drive this morning and still had major heat issues, so I pulled that rad and replaced it with my stock one, although I had to mount it sideways due to the oil cooler in its lower space between the frame rails. Just got back from a drive with this configuration, heated up even hotter and faster than the aluminum rad did. James

  6. I will install a new thermostat and see if it makes a difference. small intake, yes, with the plate required up front, but would that make such a difference? James
  7. I've been wrestling with overheating issues  since I first started the car after the rebuild. I took off the thermostat to eliminate its failure from the causes of the high temps; should I get another and put it back in? I installed the block above the rad in an effort to force air to go through and not past the rad. Still no test runs with temp below "H" Suggestions appreciated. James
  8. Bill, my PM would not send. Suggest a fair price and I'll box them up. One complete, one seat skin only. James rotoflex wrote: Not only do they recline, but if you are standing by the door & pull up on the recliner handle, they go sproing & the backs fold forward almost completely over the bases to give roomy access to the cargo area for putting stuff in & taking it out.  There's another lever at the bottom in the back that when operated allows the whole seat including the base, to be tilted forward to give easy access to all the change that has fallen from your pocket & rolled under the seat.  I don't know how much they've got in common with the home market seats, but the highback seats are very cleverly engineered for convenience in a small car. I just noticed that the recliner handle on the first GT6+ seats is different!  It's a rod with a black handle, like the rear lever in all the following seats.  The recliner handle in the next year's GT6+ & the Mk3's is a chromed, cast metal shape with ridges.  I am such a geek. Perforated inserts too, Docman, how much did they set you back?   Usually I love the smell of leather in a car, but I must ask how they've been after a hot summer in a GT6.  You may no't have a reference to compare with the OEM seats, but how would you rate stickiness, warm/cool, does it smell luxurious or like a hot cow, etc.
  9. Yes Chris, they recline. James
  10. Here they are: The grey one represents my attempt to re-cover and re-foam a seat. the frame was repainted and new foam was cut and put in. The brown seat is exactly as it was when I took it out of the car t years ago. Both will need new seat rails. James

  12. I went with an aftermarket set of seats in my MK III. I still have my highback seats, and will let them go for 65 quid plus shipping if interested. They will need to be re-covered and have their foam replaced. pm me, James
