  1. Hi thanks, and welcome! I did not replace the backplate, I just made some 90° fittings, strengthen the frame in Spitfire and bolted together. We had to make some space for the diff, so we cut a bit of the frame. I will post pictures later.
  2. Update: I have now replaced the rear diff and suspension in my Spitfire. Using Subaro STI R160 diff, axles and hub. Bought Coilovers with 250 lbs and 330 lbs springs. will start with the 330 lbs as I have in front lower the car 3.5 inch from standard, using now shorter and stiffer springs (330 lbs) I had to do some modifications obviously. Like building a plate for diff, shorter axles, custom made, smaller brake, liquid handbrake etc. Custom made fully adjustable wishbones. Toyo R888 tires. I hope with Limited slips diff, ratio 3,54:1, I will get better handling and hopefully will be faster from the line.
  3. I am looking for rims for my Triumph Spitfire Mk3, but as I am going to use "fender flares" to make the car a little wider, I need rims that are wider (6.5 to 7.5" wide) for 205x60x13 tires. I.e. I am looking for rims that are wider out, that is so the tires would "go out from the car." deeper rims...? Steel/alu /used/new  does not matter, just if I can find rims that would fit. I am not sure if this is the right place for this inquiery, but any help will be appreciated.

Of course the road I used was absolutely empty of any traffic (people or cars), and it was not at peak hours and not in the center of Reykjavik, in fact this particular road is quite out-off-the-way. So dont worry, be happy .... As for the headlamps, I did buy Xenon.

The one I had (2003) was 250 kg and the Spitfire is now 680 kg, but with gear ratio 4:11, so it is fast enough. When a BMW1000R is faster in a straight line then Areal Atom V8, it is difficult to find a "normal" car that can be faster then a Racer bike. I have not yet tested my SpitfireBusa in a good sprint at full blast, maybe next summer  8)

RR Thanks, was the Janspeed manifold made of stainless steal? My exhaust is custom made stainless all the way. I was just eliminating heat problems in the front, but interesting thought....

  9. Thanks guys! I think there are 4 or 5 Spitfire Mk2 and Mk3 here, so we dont see much of them on the road.

What setup do you have for controling the quickshifter? So is there a V8 hayabusa powered GT6 on the way  ;) I am using Quick Shifter, Powercommander 5 and Autotune (with O2 sensor) all from Dynojet. I adjust the Quick Shifter in Powercommander, now I am testing 80 msec between gears  ;) It works great and lots of fun. The car is quite quick from the start and the Quick Shifter helps shifting gears very fast, but because of the 4:10 gearing in the rear, it has theoretical appr. 180 km/hrs top speed. Which is enough for this car in my opinion. I also have camber compensator in the rear which makes the handling much better. I had to lower the car 5 cm in the front because the Hayabusa engine weighs only 80 kg.
