  1. Hi guys, Does anyone have experience with the hi torque starters? My engine has some problems to start after a day of stoppage. Even if not all the problem is due to the starter motor, I think if these hi torque starters are good and reliable, why not to install one, specially because it will make my engine start every time needed at first key turn. Cheers, Frederico
  2. thank you guys. I will take a look at the thermostat with the right fittings and then try to put it together. I guess I will still have some doubts but let see.
  3. Cutting the hoses will be a bit difficult for me I suppose, since I have the braided hoses. the last option sprtz can be a good option but I need to get a way of connect my hoses there. I guess they don't fit on the oil sandwich plate. Any ideas? will the braided hoses fit to the parts and thermostat?
  4. humm, I see. So, you recommend me to buy a thermostat. I understand it comes already set up and it will be ready for install on my existing system. Do you have any picture from your system? I want to see if I will need to get some extra hoses or something else to install it. Thank you. F.
  5. I don't have the thermostat included. My original idea was to simple have some extra cooling for the oil. Would it be the oil thermostat and temperature gauge for controlling the temperature while making long journeys only? Is it a real must to have? Thanks F.
  6. Hi everyone! Since I have my spitty in Portugal and I intend to use it mostly in the summer to make long journeys on my vacations, I decided to add an oil cooler with the totally new engine cooling system. However, I have not though about the oil pump when I bought it. I tried to find some info about this issue but I couldn't get anything. I have a 13 row oil cooler, a very regular one I believe, bought from Rimmer. Will I need to do something with the oil pump, the pressure switch or something else? Thanks, Frederico
  7. Hi guys! I bought the Minilite like I have posted. Here is the result. I like the look, I think it got very good and in Portugal because the Spitfire is a rare car, there is no problem to be a common used wheel =) However, more than the look, the ride is totally different. I went to new wheels and new tires -  the best recommendation from my friend from the tires shop - BF Goodrich and it transforms the car. Comfortable, much more precise and no vibrations at all even on high speeds =)

I have been trying to see some more pictures from spit's MkIV / 1500 with wired wheels and somehow I am afraid they will look weird. I also like these wheels http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID005754 . Are they different from the GT6 version of these wheels? or are they the same? I also found these version with polished outer rim: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-Spitfire-5-5J-x13-New-Silver-Alloy-Wheels-Special-Offer-Price-/290753955185?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43b2494571 However, these option compared to the refurb of my actual ones make it not good to use the white tyre walls that I actually have. Anyway, the weight difference might be nice to feel when driving it =) Any thoughts? cheers, Frederico
  9. I will check it the wheel size later on and I will start to check companies to refurb my wheels and some new rubber for tube tyres. I will still consider to change wheels because like I said, I have this romantic dream about he wires...  :o
  10. 4992 wrote: There is some discussion on tyres sizes and makes in the thread I just linked to. What size wheels have you got 4.5j, 5j or 5.5j? Bradley. That is a good question. I have to be honest that I don't know and don't really know how to check it... shame on me, yeah, I know :)
  11. Yes, she is Carmin Red. Love the color! I have just seen the centers you are talking. It can be an option if I refurb these wheels. What kind of good tyres are we talking? do you have any brand/model in mind for tube tyres? I believe I will try to go for some 175/60 r13 or something similar. At the moment I have 155.
  12. The main reason is that the ride now is not very nice. The tires bend a lot in corners and I would like to put a bit more grip and stiffness with some nice tubeless tires. And also give it a good look. At least this was my main point.
  13. Hi everyone! I am looking for opinions, experiences and photos of spitfire that have different wheels. I bought my car 6 months ago and now came the time to do something with the wheels. Its a red spitfire 1500 I have the romantic dream of putting some wired wheels on my car, something like this: http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID005757 Specially tubeless versions if possible, I think Moss has some tubeless wired ones. However, I believe its not going to look nice there. Does anyone has them on a 1500. the other option could be the 8 spoke alloys like these ones http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID005754 . At last resort, I could just align and paint mines and perhaps do something else with them... don't really know what. any thought? What ideas do you have for my spitty? Thank you guys, Frederico
