  1. Lowering the jet solved the problem. Another fault has now shown up in that I can't get the tick over slow enough,it is about 1000rpm and I will look at the butterfly valve to check for wear or that is shutting properly unless you can point me into another direction. The piston moves as it should and the diaphragm is okay. I didn't have the engine running when I bought it as a restoration project so the slow running could have been a problem before it was left for years. Thanks John
  2. Hi glang Will try another three turns down as you suggest. John
  3. Hello I need a bit of information re 150cd carb. I fitted new seals then centralised the jet, the piston goes up and down as it should the adjustment on the jet is 3 turns back from the top. The engine starts and runs but only with full to half choke anything less and it stops. Any ideas? Thanks John
  4. Hello all Problem sorted! I removed the jet then fitted the top cover and everything okay with the piston up and down movement. Then centralised the jet and all okay. Thanks for looking John
  5. Hello I am having problems with the piston not sliding up and down as it should on a Stromberg 150 on a 1360 Herald. Without the top cover clamping the diaphragm down the piston moves freely up and down but with the top cover on the piston jambs and doesn't slide. I have turned the cover through all the 90 degree positions but without success even with the screws tightened or loose. The carb. has been stripped for new o rings and needle valve and it has been working before. It is not a new unit. Any ideas?
  6. Thanks for the replies. The seal is original but the clips are new so probably not compatible. I have made a tool but it requires far more "pull" than the picture would imply. I like the idea of the string will reduce the amount of swearing. I assume that the two edges are put together then the clip pulled over them both, is that right? John

  8. Help!!! Has anyone got a tip on how to fit the clips that hold the outer window seal on the top edge of the door. My car is a convertible but I assume all Heralds are probably the same. I have bought new clips from Rimmers and have struggled for ages..... must be a better way than I am doing things. Thanks John

  10. If the 208502 number is put in Rimmers it shows Land Rover air filters (I think didn't take much time to remember since it wasn't relevant. Another site states that 208502 is interchangeable with 208493. May be could fit with spacers although would need to extend the studs. The actuating lever is different angle on 208502 than the old one. With cam in the low position the old pump can fit up against the block without any pressure but the 208502 one requires pressure to fit it up to block which means that the diaphragm is at the max position and will never move when the cam changes. Thanks John
  11. The original engine in a 1360 Thanks John
  12. I just tried a part number 208502 petrol pump that wouldn't work because the lever was at the wrong angle. The proper number is 208493 but according to information they are interchangable. Any experience? Thanks John
  13. Hi I am looking for information regarding removing the door glass from 1360. I think it is held to the bottom frame by circular spring washer clips but if it is how do you see behind to release the clips? Thanks in anticipation John
