  1. Ha I noticed that too, I got a little bit of discount for being a guinea pig!
  2. Hi, thanks, yes they are pretty good, I'm glad a I asked Newtons if they could try making some as they came out very well. The mat is from a set of Spitfire mats I got from Paddocks, https://www.jamespaddock.co.uk/front-footwell-rubber-mats-pair-2 Fairly inexpensive but they look authentic and fit the Mk2 chassis Herald/Vitesse footwells extremely well.
  3. Oh yes, very much so, the main point being that they look far more like the original loop pile carpets than the usual Newtons carpets which are a very different material. I haven't fitted them yet though, but I can't imagine the fit will be any different to any other Newton moulded carpets and they all seem to fit well. I gave the passenger footwell carpet a trial fit and it looked good. (my original carpets are good but very faded, they will be restored in time)
  4. I forgot to upload photo's, hear are a few of the grey loop pile moulded set from Newtons. Regards Jon
  5. Just picked up on this old thread. Some of you may be interested to hear that I spoke to Newton Commercial last year about loop pile Herald and Vitesse carpets after noticing they were making loop pile moulded carpets for Ford Escorts. The chap I spoke to was interested and said they would do a trial, which they did making a set of black VItesse loop pile carpets for an owner who I mentioned this to in the TSSC forum. He seems pleased with them and they look good in the photos, so I have ordered a grey set for my 12/50, which are being made next week. I'll try and upload a few photos when they arrive. Newton's have now included these in their official product line, which you can find on their website. Cheers Jon
  6. I think this is what you’re going to need. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234161104419?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=2avQTxxgRl-&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=rDwaU0BPTEu&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  7. Thanks both. I expect it you are right and it will go away, but I might rotate the spring so that when the top plate levels out on the turret it reduces the bend on the spring. I kept the original springs from 1965 as the car is low(ish) mileage and the springs were straight before. It might be a month or so before I can put all the suspension and wheel back so will have to be patient. JJ
  8. Hi, Couldn't find any previous discussion about this. I have just fitted one of my original Herald coil springs to a SPAX damper, and the bottom of the spring wont sit down fully on the lower spring plate on the damper (see blue arrow) meaning once it is compressed up and installed, the spring has a bend in it rather than being parallel with the damper as it was on the old Woodhead damper. The coned bit of the lower spring plate seems a bit too wide for the inner diameter of the spring. Anyone had this before, and know the best way to correct it? Cheers Jon
