  1. That looks like a quality job. I take it you’re not going to fit them as it’ll be a shame to spoil the finish 😀

Hello JohnD. I spoke to Neil earlier today - prior to putting this post up. He didn’t mention any retirement but said that he couldn’t do a RR session before mid December. I was hoping to sort it out sooner - therefore asked the guys on here. As always….. Thank you for your help 👍

Did you replace the needles with the same ones that you removed or did you replace them with richer ones ? Did you replace the jet as well? Is your distributor worn ? Do you currently have electronic ignition? Will it be returned to you with points fitted? Will it retain the standard advance curve?

yorkshire_spam. Thank you for your reply. Is that on modified engines or standard road going ones?

Clive, gland, and Lemon Hell. I have taken all of your comments on board and will try adjustments as you have suggested. I am also thankful for the Bailey performance link as Telford is only 45 miles away. Many thanks to you all! Pete

    Rolling road

My Mk2 Vitesse engine is standard other than an unleaded head and Accuspark ignition- which was fitted by the previous owner. I have adjusted the tappets, balanced the carbs, used a colour tune for the mixture, set the timing to 10deg at idle, new air filters , and checked the carb diaphragms. I start it on choke and it needs to be pushed almost fully in within 30~60 secs. Although it will rev to higher rpm, it seems a little reluctant to do so - possibly with a slight misfire. It also seems to lack some power on hills - whereby I read other owners comments about their car climbing without changing down? To put my mind at ease, I am looking for a good rolling road operator that can set the car up to its optimum. I live in the Worcestershire area and am prepared to travel but it looks like one of the best RR operators is in Essex. Can anyone recommend an “old style” rolling road specialist within a 100mile radius to my location that can help? Many thanks. Pete.
  7. Nick. I have contacted the chap who experienced the failure and it wasn’t a CV type shaft that failed. I believe he knows you and has PM’d you personally.
  8. Martins Stag. That’s interesting. I wonder if the Canley classic ones were made by CDD?
  9. Hi Nick I’ve asked the chap with the failure for more detail. Will update you if I can get more detail. best regards Pete.
  10. Hi Clive, I would really like a CV conversion and the telescopic shocks that you can fit without the bracket conversion. Unfortunately, I have read that there are weaknesses with some of the cv driveshaft conversions - whereby some owners have lost their wheels (GT6 on you tube) + others that the owner of the GT6 has been in contact with. This is why I’m asking the advice of the more experienced owners on here. Not sure if Nick Jones is still doing the conversion as I am struggling to find his contact details. Many thanks. Pete
  11. Hello All. I am now at a stage where I need to do something with my rear suspension. I currently have the rotoflex system with lever arm shockers but the shocks need replacing. I am looking for the best conversion possible - which could include a driveshaft change. Can anyone please advise me on the best modifications for my road going car? Many thanks. Pete.
  12. Rosbif. Glad we listened to you. The stop in Dinan was interesting. What a cracking area.👍 Your trip was also quite a jolt - guess we were both lucky with the weather!
  13. JohnD. I’ve just checked the 10CR out. That looks challenging. Probably better left to the “Big boys and girls” but who knows? Definitely food for thought.
  14. ALL. We have returned from our trip in France. What a fantastic experience in the Vitesse. We covered about 800 miles and are looking forward to going back. Thank you all for your support and help 👍
  15. Clive, Pierre, and JohnD. Thank you all for your help, the description and the photos have made it so much easier to understand !
  16. Can anyone please advise on the fitment of headlamp deflectors as I’m confused. My Vitesse is fitted with sealed beam units. Do I need to fit deflectors to all 4 headlamps? If so, roughly what position on the lens should they be fitted? The ones I have purchased are EUROLITES. Many thanks. Pete. Quote

  18. Hello All. The trip has now been booked. Talk about spur of the moment . We are off to Noirmoutier-en-l’ille for a few days followed by a couple of days in Dinan? Really excited about driving through France in the Vitesse 🤞. Once again…….. Thank you for your help!
  19. Clive, Rosbif and JohnD. Again, really good advice which I have taken on board. Many thanks to all. Pete.
  20. Darren and Pierre. Thank you both for your help and good advice. It has put my mind at ease and we shall now plan our trip. 👍.
  21. Thinking about taking the Vitesse to France - just below Nantes. I’m slightly worried about damage / theft. Can anyone share their experience of taking a classic car to France ?
  22. Yes, I agree, I find Mick a pleasure to deal with. Not only does he have a great stock, but he is always willing to share his knowledge with others!
  23. Hello! As the title says, I’m looking for a hood stowage cover for my Mk2 Vitesse. Thank you. Pete.
