  1. Yes I know what you mean Wendy. It’s just working out what to do next as there is so much to do. I still have the sunroof to finish off the rubbers on the side windows the dashboard carpet and so on.
  2. Thanks Clive. I did wonder what the bolt was for at the back when I had the manifold off near the pipe I will give it a good flush. I was surprised that water got through the pipe that begin with. A little job getting bigger.
  3. I have done it now I was going to put it on today went to replace the pipe behind the manifold then I see this I thought it was oil at first head gasket but the water is clear then when it dried out it looks like cork so I’m hoping that it is rad weld . Just need to get the nuts and olive as the pip didn’t come with them
  4. I’ve already drilled them out just waiting for the tap as I have a set but sods law I can’t find a tap I need.
  5. I did try welding the nut but just rounded it off. Didn’t try diesel don’t like the smell. So I just cut it level and drilled them out. And taped a new thread in. Thanks again for your advice got some new ideas that I’ve not heard of before
  6. Not heard of spark erosion. ?
  7. Hi Clive. I have tried to hit it with a hammer but no go. I have a welder but it seems very rusted in so I think it would just snap off again I was hoping for something else on the market that might work but have to resort to the old fashioned way drilling it out. I’ll let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

  9. Hi glamg. I have tried to heat it up but I only have a hand held one it won’t glow red. I may have to drill it out and hope for the best.
  10. Hi I’m having trouble with the studs on my triumph herald 1964 . 2of the studs have broken off and well rusted in. What is the best way to get them out
  11. Hi. I have just seen this and I am going to strip down and clean my carb it’s the same as the one here it looks like it hasn’t been cleaned for a long time what is the best way of going about it and what to look for. At the moment it seems to be not very responsive. And how do I go about setting it up once I have cleaned it all. Any suggestions would help me a lot as I’ve not worked on this type of carb before.

    Spark plugs

I did try to remove the pip without removing the manifold first but no go and I did what to see if the cor plug is ok. Getting the down pipe off is a pain in the harry then 2 nuts broke off now I have to get the studs out. Next step is the carb stop down and clean then find out where all the oil come from.

    Spark plugs

Hi. All I have taken off the manifold not a straightforward job as I thought I had to undo the exhaust and broke two studs to get the pipe at the back which I have now removed and it is the pipe which is leaking as in photos now I’ve just got removed the broken Studs And replace with a new pipe, clean the carburettor And put it back together.
  21. Hi I was wondering if you had sorted out the problem as I was reading this but didn’t say if sorted out. It’s just in case someone had the same problem or someone like me would like to see if did find and fix it.

    Spark plugs

Hi. I will remove the old one first then if not the pip I will remove the manifold to look at the core plug. I’ve not long had the car and checking it all over before I take it out for a ride there is a lot I’ve got to do so it won’t be on the road for a bit.

    Spark plugs

Hi yes I see what you mean. When I tried to have a look it was dripping down off the pipe but looking at the place of the cor plug it might be spraying on it then dripping down so I will take the pipe off then have a little look if I’m not sure I will take the manifold off. Then I may clean the engine up to see if the other gaskets are ok. I no the rocker box gasket is leaking. I noticed that there wasn’t a temperature gauge in the car so how would I know if it was overheating. How hard is it to fit one and where would the thermostat censor go.

Hi thanks all for all your replys. It a 1964 12/50 engine it might have been on the change over. If you have a close look at the photos you can just see a drip coming on the pip.
