6 cars entered now, so we are now half full. This is also our break point so unexpected crisis or disaster permitting, the rally will now run! I would be nice to have a few more entries to liven up competiton 🙂

Thanks for the feedback Mike, the thanks should go to @Craig

I'm anticipating event entry to open this week. It will be CT members only for the first 7 days, then if space available, may be opened up to other clubs / non members. Please give me a heads up if you know of any other Clubs or non members that may be interested.
-
@Radders Did you have any particular Club in mind? We have accomodated other clubs by invitation in past events, however CT members would always get priority. It possibly gets trickier if the other Club is not MSUK affiliated. We are looking into this!

So a quick update. I am beavering away on the paperwork and Colin is finalising the route. We have great start and finish venues and some interesting roads to drive on. We will be trying to ensure that the navigation clues are not fiendishly hard so that everyone has a nice drive around.
Look out for entry opening soon!

Colin W & I are planning to hold a CT 12 car rally on 20th Nov 2022 if all comes together in time.
It will be Essex based, most likely around the area between Colchester and Ipswich, is likely to cover around 60 to 80 miles with a Sunday Lunch at the finish.
As usual, there will be beginners, novice and expert clues available, dependant on experience, so something for everyone who fancies a go.
So save the date please and look out for further updates after the 10CR!

The Club is pulling together plans to hold a Triumph Autosolo on Sunday 23rd October at a tarmac surfaced location near to Chelmsford, Essex. The event will be aimed at driver skills and car control rather than out and out speed, therefore should be non damaging. The anticipated entry cost will be around £40, however due to venue hire etc. the Club will be exposing itself to a financial risk should not enough people enter the event.
Not sure what an Autosolo entails? Find out more here:

So my question to you all is would you participate or not?
Please use the voting options at the top of the page. Thanks, Mike

not one I recognize, sorry!

depending if you want original or not, mk1 or mk2 Mazda MX5 seats are a comfortable alternative

As others have said, for obvious reasons the Club cannot officially condone or promote this or other unofficial events, but drive safely and have a good run. A few friends and I recently drove from Ipswich to Ness Point, up to Scarborough, accross to Weston Super Mare, down to Brighton and finally returning to Southend on Sea for a curry, all in 24hrs. Plenty of fun A-road driving, few if any speed limits exceeded and a fun time had by all!

Dear All,We've been asked to check within the club to see if there is anyone within our region who could be interested in joining the MSUK's Club and Community Development Department where a vacancy exists for a Community Activator ManagerThe obvious connection is that as the role is primarily involved in working with clubs and regional associations, someone who is connected to that community with some experience of how it works would be an ideal candidate. The details of the role are on the MSUK's website here: https://www.motorsportuk.org/contact-us/careers/

I have a set of chrome racing style bullet mirrors mounted on the doors of my Mk1 GT6. Although they are not the best for clear, wide rear visibity, they do look good. Not sure why the photo has uploaded hugely, sorry.
I do have a spare pair, new and unused, that I would sell if you decided to go down that route.

Hi Jim, as above, this is almost certainly down to the old rod accelerator linkages. I had exactly the same problem on my Mk3. The cure is to fit a throttle pedal and cable from a Mk4 Spitfire. Easy fix with just one small hole to be drilled in the bulkhead (firewall)
I've not been over to the car shed yet since I saw you, but when I do I'll try and remember to take a few photos
Best regards
Mike

A Guide to Interpreting and Plotting Rally Clues
in Essex Winter 12 Car Navigational Rally (EWR)
Posted
Our webmaster Craig has been working hard in the background to convert and upload a useful guide for beginners, novices and experts alike. With info ranging from how best to fold a map to common abbrieviations and types of clue, this is a must to read for anyone thnking of competing.
The disclaimer is that it is a general guide only and it's content is not exhaustive. There is no inference that the ESBR clues are covered in their entirety, but it is still worth a read!
