  1. Test post to check save/edit/functions are working andto try and work out why my previous edited post has not been saved. Now edited as previous test

  3. Just clearing away the tumbleweed on this topic..... We currently have one set of results being submitted for 2023 Any more please?
  4. Agreed, no washers under the mains cap bolts. I just went and checked the half built 1500 on the stand in the shed.
  5. That's perfect - thanks Tim, and thanks very much Wendy for going to the trouble to copy those pages; it's much appreciated.
  6. Has anyone got a wiring diagram for a J type overdrive?, specifically the wiring at the rear end where the inset gearlever knob switch is? I've looked in the Haynes manual but can't find it there? Thanks.
  7. Thanks Colin - I'll be in contact.
  8. I am looking for a basic, period, car radio that just has knobs for tuning and volume, and therefore does not need to have a "standby" live 12v feed connected all the time to save station settings. It must have the FM frequency though, as I want to use it with an iPod transmitter as well as listen to live FM radio. It does not matter what it looks like as it will be concealed. Thanks for looking, Mike
  9. I buy quite a few bits in Halfords and nearly always use them for consumables, and wondered how easy it is to get a trade card when I'm not exactly "in the trade". Can I use my "status" as a Club Triumph "official" do you think? How have others approached this and found an acceptable to Halfords "occupation"?
  10. This might be complete nonsense, but in the foggy depths of my brain lurks the thought that a late Morris Minor van plate will fit ok, and that I used one in an early Mk3 Spitfire. I might be wrong of course, but worth checking with someone who knows for sure. I also think that it is the same plate as used in the early BT Marina vans, as the one given to me was a mechanic who worked in a BT garage workshop.
  11. I have a spare J Type O/D gearbox that was running for quite a while in my Spitfire some years ago. It was working fine but after after a bit of a general rebuild of the whole car it ended up with a newer box out of another car I'd bought and has been sitting under my bench ever since then, wrapped and greased/oiled. It all looks good and ready to go, but I wanted to get some opinions on how much up and down (and side to side as well I suppose) is normal. I don't remember it being a problem when it was being used, but would like an opinion on what amount of play is normal. Thanks in advance for any help with this.
  12. Well done Darren and Wendy; that is one superb looking car. Very nice indeed.
  13. Yes, definitely a tool for undoing diff/gearbox/sump plugs. I have one, inherited from my Dad as above...
  14. The 2023 series now has its own thread, for current information, updates and general chat, so please use that to post any 2023 info.
  15. As some events are now being publicised for 2024, the rallies calendar can be updated with some options for the rallies mini-series. There are two eligible options for a February event to count in the mini-series; a CSMA 12car on the 3rd Feb, and the CMC 12car on the 24th Feb. Please remember that the results from only one of these two events can be used, not both. The main event for March this year is the Club Triumph Derek Pollock Memorial Rally on the 5th March. Details of all these events can be found via the righthand side-bar and in the main events listing.
  16. Just a placeholder at present, but will be populated over the coming days and weeks
  17. Okay thanks. I'll look at the CMC website to see the full extent of your incompetence 😀.
  18. Update.... Anyone competing in tonight's CMC 12car rally? The next event for Feb is the Boundless CSMA 12 car rally - see the righthand panel for event details.
  19. A few years ago I imported French registered bike from France and hired a UK based man with a van to collect it via the ferry, both ways. All I needed to do on its arrival was complete the NOVA documentation. Very easy, but as mentioned above, it may be more difficult now that we are out of the EU. As yours is already UK registered it should be easy.
  20. Hi Tony - I have Falken Sincera 165/80 tyres on my Spitfire and run them at 27psi front, 32psi rear. They are very good, dry or wet, at those figures. I know the Spitfire is lighter that the GT6, but those figures cant be that far off.
  21. Just a reminder to anyone who wishes to add their 2022 rally results to the mini-series results table, and possibly win an award, is that this needs to be done by the end of December or first week in January at the latest please. You must have used a Triumph car for these events, either as driver or navigator, and I need your placing against other CT entrants, or if there were no other CT entrants, your placing in class. Please email mike.banks@club.triumph.org.uk. Thanks.
  22. As December has always been a busy month with the Christmas holiday preparations and New Year approaching, there are no suggested events at present, unless somebody can suggest a suitable club rally that will be running in that month that we can suggest as an eligible event for the series? Failing that, we will give December a miss and resume in January 2023, but I'm open to any other suggestions to fill the gap if anyone can come up with one?
