  1. First official Border Raider meeting last night. The overnight hotel may have to accommodate more entrants!. Chris will be on with more entry  info shortly

Final night accommodation being sourced as we speak and the route maps being dusted down ....albeit only a few weeks of dust .

The event now even more popular

Yeah... I've no need to partake in a discussion about MOT'S in any regard other than the question I was raising.

OK...I dont like my Post Office counters either...OK😉

  3. My answer to MOT`s, ...if we are dedicated enthusiasts we should know whether our our cars are roadworthy and or safe to drive, Checking most things from wipers to brakes should be the norm well before taking any Historic  car on the road. Even with an MOT certificate in your hand , it can be nullified by a (rare) traffic cop coming along and checking your car over on a road side check. If he deems the car unsafe because he may pick up on something that he considers unsafe ...a piece of paper is useless. The modern MOT `engineer` nine times out of ten can get it wrong eg being told the wheel bearings are worn , when in most cases there is a tolerance of movement within the older unsealed bearings.or "there is no external rear view mirror, when prior to 1978 there was rule to say one should be fitted . I drive three MOT exempt cars and in each case know that that they are safe regarding road worthy-ness .....Now as for poor spares and replacements ...thats another argument

  4. First organisational meeting next week for 2024......but we have quite a number of interested applications already...even from `newbies`. Overnight hotel arranged already...in Scotland

But lots of English and Welsh families go to Scotland and the Border region for their hols.

The Friday travelling to the starting point will be horrendous. Take a picnic for the M6🤪

Go on non advised sat nav roads, as everybody and there dog know no other roads

Better than having to turn up in August with a camp roll and tent.....due to no hotels

Are you aware that the revised date clashes with the start of the school summer holidays in England and Wales? The roads are going to be rammed.

    Regards

    Bruce

Bruce. You should by now be aware we don`t use their type of roads....and not going to Wales😉

Slight change of plan. Scotland appears to be full on our chosen weekend, something to do with a tattoo, not sure if it’s getting a rose on its thigh or an anchor on the arm but whatever it is it’s caused us a headache trying to get a hotel sorted for the Saturday.

So we’ve had to move the date to the weekend before which is the 27/28th of July and that has allowed us to get some decent accommodation.

All we need now is a start point, a finish point and a route in between!

Watch this space, but the wheels are in motion.

As a rider to the above

The bringing forward of the date, will give breathing space before the CT Ten Countries Run and the event will allow the entry of up to 35 cars and crews. Anyone interested in entering ,Chris will be portraying the `runners` list as per usual.Once again this event will not be disappointment!. https://clipchamp.com/watch/ox8cbrm1HkR

  8. Here we go again....the hunt is on ...for the event hotel(Saturday)...which is part of the event itself

As usual...the previous night(Friday) accommodation will be down to entrants to book....and, if needed , the finish location( on a Sunday) and hotel will be down to entrants to source and book.

    Only 50 weeks to go!!!

Hope everyone enjoyed this years Raiders event. Sorry to hear of certain hiccups but hope you will be back next time

For all those interested in souvenirs.....at reasonable prices :  Pieces of Hadrians Wall  £8.00 per block, Yorkshire Stone £5.00 per block and sheep horns at £2.00 per horn

All proceeds going into the Raiders coffers to help in the next event funding😉

Thats why its ...Border Raiders.....the original name ...Border Reivers ,from the 13th to 17th century era of gangs of raiders who used to nick things from either side of the border....then go home with their hoards of ill gotten gains..... So next year...all dressed in kilts and wode ,riding horseback
