  4. To my dismay today I found for a xmas gift an "oil pool" below the gearbox / overdrive, The car has been stationary for some 9 months, Any reader comment on the chance that a refill may swell up the gaskets ? Or is it necessary to strip out and replace them ugh ugh
  5. Posted this info  last August Having taken head off to find its location I was fishing down , the information refers to removing the tap assemble and pushing a rod up to clear the blockage --- then a good flush So good luck Up Date to my query, the drain outlet I was seeking is approx at 11 on the 12 hr clock face 23 hr on 24hr clock "top left and up" with a 5mm diameter channel when clear.
  6. Hello, Which ever system you use a "technical earth" will assist - this is an extra lead min 5 amp type line from the plate that the contact breakers were mounted normally a short length earth braid was fitted to  earth being a route by the dirty route of the chassis  -- extend this lead  direct to the battery neg-- this assists a clean Zero to the electronics a dirty earth has a higher resistance and hence in digital terms might be either 1 or 0  therefore unreliable -- Zero resistance cannot be measured on a a standard DVM -- your looking for less than 0.03 ohms, this was the method of achieving  a "clean" feed in the Analogue days and is more needed now than ever. You of course do all this with the battery disconnected [neg and pos] leads
  7. Thank you all, I too had decided to free the fan it is the plastic version and see if that's the trick To bore you all this all started as at the MOT it was suggested that perhaps the rad bottom tank looked suspect, so wife says change it! After its out it will go to Exeter Radiators and if its actually checked ok etc I will offer it for sale. I still have to manage flushing the block, without I hope "popping core plugs" Thanks again
  8. Followed the book instructions yet cannot remove the old Rad as bottom hose connection on rad, will not pass the fan plastic blades -- does this mean the side valences need to be removed or is this sore finger/hand trouble ?
