On the contrary, Dave!
110kgs = 242lbs
If 150lbs at 1 foot = 150ft-lbs
Then 150ft-lbs = 242lbs at (1 x 150)/242 = 0.62ft or 7.4 inches.
It's not quantum chromodynaamics, or even algebra! It's arithmetic!
If you can work out the price of four tyres when you know the price of one, you can do this calculation.
John
Fair enough, John, but I still prefer to use a torque wrench... Cheers, Dave 🙂

150 ft-lbs is a convenient torque to improvise.
70kgs, normal adult weight, 150lbs in Imperial, on the end of a foot long lever!
Or half that on two feet.
John
Doesn't work for me ,John, 'cos I weigh 110 kg ! However, I do possess a good torque wrench... Cheers, Dave. -
I believe about .0015 to .0025 inches is desirable, but if anyone knows better, please say. Cheers, Dave. For anyone who thinks I've put the decimal point in the wrong place I mean one and a half thousandth of an inch to two and a half thousandths of an inch.

THey are not pre-loaded! They have to be set up with minimal play. See Canley Classics Technical archive for instructions. Cheers, Dave.

Spitfire Graveyard has a Vitesse box with overdrive for sale for £750.

Try Mick Dolphin, but you need to know the part number.

I'm just ignoring the supposed problem and running my 13/60 on unleaded. If it becomes a problem, if ever, then I'll do something about it! So far... no problems...

If you are doing a CV conversion it doesn't matter a damn. Just use the one that fits!
-
TSSC shop still listing them at £712.80 per pair. That price is for non-members, TSSC members get 20% discount. Cheers, Dave.
-
TSSC shop used to be able to supply either Canley or Jigsaw's CV system. Try asking them. Cheers, Dave.

I believe its got to be warmed - if possible immersion in warm water and/or hair dryer (especially for the bends)....
Correct! -
What temperature thermostat are you using? I run my 13/60 on an 82 Degree, but Triumph also recommend an 88 degree one for cold conditions. Cheers, Dave.

Hey thanks for what problem
Sorry, I've been away. You asked why your propshaft was short. You asked was it the chassis. The answer is , no the chassis is the same, you have the wrong propshaft, or am I missing something? Cheers, Dave. -

Good Day 2 all you TRIUMPHETTES and masters of the classic universe. I'm building a triumph 13/60 onto a Herald estate chassis. However after refurbing the diff prop gearbox and suspension incl running gear. I now find the current propshaft comes up 6" short to the rear of the gearbox, mmm confused ?? H.E.L.P
We've told you what the problem is, so what's your problem? -
No difference in chassis. You probably have the wrong propshaft. See Canley Classics technical section for correct prop lengths. Cheers, Dave.

The boot key number I see usually stamped on the shaft that goes through the latch.
I thought that doors and ignition were same Kay, and bootlid and glovebox were same key.
Might have remembered wrong mind
On my 13/60 the door key and ignition key are the same, but the boot key is different. By chance the boot key is the same as the bonnet locks key that I fitted after I bought the car! So I have 2 keys, but I don't lock the glove box and have no idea whether the keys fit it. Cheers, Dave. -
Is your wiper motor actually working?

I have a Spit 1500 gearbox and J type overdrive on my 13/60. The correct mounting plate is available from Rimmers, I believe. 2 extra mounting holes have to be drilled through the chassis flange to fit it, and you need a shorter propshaft with the appropriate flanges, that is round type at gearbox and square at diff. Canleys can supply correct prop brand new for about £165 + delivery. Cheers, Dave. I'm assuming that you are trying to fit a Single rail box rather than a 3 Rail type, if not some of the above info might not apply!

Not sure what you mean about 'rock solid when clutch depressed'. I would check endfloat of the crank without touching the clutch and just pull the crank fanbelt pulley back n forwards. You might have to do it with the engine hot as then it should move more freely or use some sort of lever to get it to move then it should give you an idea of the play. It should be minimal but if you want a number you'll probably need a dial gauge......
I believe the tolerance is 6 to 14 thou. My Vitesse was 18 thou. New standard size thrust washers solved that. -

Hi all, probably a daft question but........anyone know where I can get a drive flange that fits a j type overdrive gearbox to propshaft it's 3 5/8 inch diameter, nothing I have on my herald 13/60 fits, my old propshaft drive flanges are not the same size thanks in advance
Also does anybody know how to wire the overdrive up or know of a kit to wire it up. I have a switch on the gearstick if that helps thanks
Wins International usually have them. -
All the flanges on a 13/60 take 5/16 inch bolts. All flanges on a Vitesse take 3/8 inch bolts. You will need to change the flanges and or the diff. Propshafts are built to your required spec. Cheers, Dave.

Is there a rear disc conversion kit for the 13/60? if so is it worth it ?
No. I have a brake servo and Mintex 1144 pads on my 13/60 and the stopping power is impressive when compared with standard brake pads. If you really want more stopping power then go for the Vitesse 2 litre/ Gt6 set up! Cheers, Dave. -
Quoted from Spider
Try Uniroyal rain expert 3's I fitted them to my GT6 and they transformed the handling especially in the wet, paid £33 fitted up to £39 now but worth every penny in my book gave me the confidence to drive the car as it should be driven, even in the wet.
I agree!
