  1. Before spinning it on the starter, try and turn it over by hand using a large spanner/socket or adjustable on the crank pulley bolt… if the oil in the bearings has deteriorated this will help prevent any damage

For my own peace of mind, I contacted the Certificat.air.gouvr.france, direct and this is the response I received

    Good morning,

Your vehicle is old: it falls under the less strict anti-pollution standards which result in more polluting technologies. It is not eligible for a certificate.

    Cordialement,

How very French !! Our locals contacted the Prefecture when our local Mayor said something similar… after a thorough public finances investigation the mayor was unceremoniously replaced 😆

So a few more pictures from the car. And this time also some of the bits that are not so good ...

Signs of previous repairs to the lower front wings ...

Standard rust patch where inner wing and front bulkhead meet ...

Butchered boot area, missing the spare wheel well ...

Fairly decent interior considering it's 37 years old ...

    Engine bay ...

And the shell that I am very much tempted to use for the restoration ...

Oh I’m VERY excited !!! Get the car back from Moordale on Tuesday following some paint, prep for Castle Coombe track day on 1st May with TR Register, then prep work for the summer and the event of the year, the 10CR … I’ll try not to break my ribs, puncture my lung and have to miss it this time 😂🫣

  6. If anyone is interested, I have a fully balanced & ported 1300 engine with big valve head, fast road cams, upgraded followers and springs running on twin SUs runs very strong, ready to go, collection North London …

    Hi,

What i learnt is here in France government chose yellow light because it's easier to see on snowy landscape (yes... no comment).

Well as main laws are not retroactive, you are allowed to still use yellow beams even now and no one will check the conformity/model.

I had 3 Scirocco Mk1 having 4 yellow tinted beams...

All i want, is to make an easy old looking car, reminding sports cars of the 70'S on meetings (Wheels, exhaust, spoiler, beams and bumpers off))

The French govt were right … it does !!

  8. Living in suburban London I think that's simply fabulous!!

Set up a remote camera and watch them develop u til they fly the nest (of course the parents will probably be back for a second clutch later in the year !!
