Andy,
We have decided against it this time.
Funnily enough since the 'Recession', the green debate seems to have slipped peoples minds!
The RBRR was Carbon Neutral for two years 2006 and 2008. In fact, it was the first 'Green' old car event in the uk.
I can see the argument from people, and when one thinks about it we would all be better off giving the money we spend to the Charity and staying at home, but that is hardly fun!
Oh well. -
AsSteve states, Kestrel Suite, Gaydon. 13.00hrs sharp.
-
Just to add my penny worth, we have 20 controls this time, so it is vitally important to keep up with the pace of the event. All timings are based upon driving the route using a Herald.
Don't panic though and no need to cut sections of the route out. Remember that we ask that all Controls are visited. Keep in touch with the Central Control: Nigel Abdullah by text if having issues. Remember he has 100 or so cars to think about, so texts must include entry number.
Please do not think that the RBRR is a piece of cake, it needs some thought and planning.
Believe it or not the event is good fun, a proper Triumph fest! -
I think Colin is correct, 6J were a optional extra.
Always some available.
Tom Keys has a set for sale. -
Er, same as late July!!!
'The trip to CLM proved that the old Saloon needs some attention:
UJs to Prop.
Finally get the throttle linkeage sorted-this has been a pita since purchase in '94.
Tune the car
Sort out some of the rust that is starting to show its ugly head. Usual places: NSR wheel arch and NSF wheel arch.
Dashboard wiring bodge
Otherwise just make the car look smart.'
Just cannot see me doing this. -
Totally agree with Jason and Colin.
Anyone doing the event in a GT6 will know where I am coming from.
All the parts one needs can be fitted in a small bag. -
Quite a few CT types use this already.
Jason C will discuss this at the DM.
By the way, ain't it nice to see someone happy with their eyepad! -

Got to be eh!
Mike C's getting a bit cocky following Philip's great result in the CT a'solo. We will see, we will see next year!

Not sure about all this HID malarkey.
My saloon has a set of Cibie Oscars as spots, blooming brilliant.
As for KC daylighters, those spot that are loved by the Land Rover 4WD people, are'nt they illegal on a road car. (Steve, not trying to be a smart alec, just intrigued) -
Love to see the results?

Has no one read the RBRR Advice Notes we issue?
Copy attached: -
Here you go.
Obviously has to be simple owing to the 2000 miles we will cover, all types of roads are used from Motorways down to single track roads in the Highlands.
No tricks or anything, just clear instructions with the aim of hoping that no cars get lost.
Some of the roads make for great driving, for example the return leg from JOG down to Stirling is excellent fun.
The route used has been subjected to constant evolution since the event started, the biggest change being in 2000 when Welsh roads were first used, the Saturday had become a fast dash from Stirling to Indian Queens on the A30 in Cornwall using either motorways or fast dual carriageways. This was both boring and very tiring! Something needed to be done to spice the event up, and it was decided to go over to Oswestry and down through Ludlow, Hereford, Monmouth to cross the Severn bridge and get to Bristol/Gordano.
I always find it mind boggling to think that one is in Stirling at 18.00hrs on the Saturday and we have to get to Lands End and then back to Crews Hill for the finish 24or so hours later. -
Very simple, I'll post a page as an example.
-
Sorry Yogi, cannot change the route now as the Road Book is at the printers.
Most Entrants on the Sunday afternoon are looking for simple roads to use as they just want to get back, one or two nursing poorly cars.
We have simplified the route the Wiltshire/Hants border, mainly major A or Motorway roads.
See you at the DM? -
The Stretch does exist, I have seen the thing!
I just hope Dave ain't reading this! -
Just realised that 12 of those cars are still owned by their drivers!!!
I understand that someone is buying back one of the cars?
Gawd, does this mean that Mr Pearson will bring the 'Stretch' out of retirement??? -
10 years on, er that may cause issues!
Gawd help anyone having a dip that sees some of those sights-ugh! -
Plus Sam Shattock, Craig Gingell, Dave Walker's brother and of course Keith Bennett.
Graham Reeks will struggle!
Is Quentin still into Triumph cars?
Where exactly do you intend meeting? -
Nick,
The hole just below, is that the same size and thread size?
You will need the fixing if you intend to fix inertia seat belts. -
No Zig Zag I'm afraid.
Still the route is advisory and if time exists..... -
Julia, Roy's wife has told me that she will have a selection of cakes available at Gledrid-nice one Julia!
Mike, You going to be providing any food at Blyth or Tebay?
Nice one! -
I'd go for the timber!
Flippant answer, but it works! -
Carry a piece of 1 x 1'' timber?
-
Stuart,
Let Jason know asap.
We experience quite a few car changes at this point of the run up to the event and it can be difficult keeping up with them all.
Thanks.
